Coffee County Book H 1854-1857 P Index Deed: Alexander Powell to Darius J. Powell, Coffee, Tennessee 1856 For the love and affection I entertain for my son Darius J. Powell I do hereby give grant and convey to him the said Darius J. Powell the following slave Vez, a girl named Amy five years old. The above described negro is estimated to be worth Three hundred and fifty dollars and the said Darius J. Powell acknowledges the receipt of that sum as an advancement from me to him towards his interest in my estate, I warrant said negro to be sound healthy and a senseable and a slave for life and also warrant and defend the title to the same to the said Darius J. Powell his heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons whatever this 3rd day of September 1856.
