CATES, and includes all names mentioned in said will. T. F. CATES Last Will - Probated May 8th 1919 Minute Book 10, Page __ I, T. F. CATES do make and publish this my last will and testament... Mentions: To my daughters GLENN RANDOLF and MYRTLE CATES, I give... about thirty-two acres off of the west end of my farm... GLENN is to have the north half, and MYRTLE the south half. To my son BROODIE CATES, I give... 16 acres imediately east of the 32 acres given to GLENN and MYRTLE. To my son TOLLIE CATES I give... about 16 acres of my said home place. To my beloved wife ELLA CATES the remainder of my said home tract, and at her death to my two youngest children FAY and OLIVE EVE CATES share and share alike. But it is expressly stated that my said wife is to have the rents and profite of the entire farm for the year 1919. Also to my wife, Twenty Two hundred dollars ($2200.00) to be by her used for the following purposes: One thousand dollars to be invested in a house and lot in Alamo, which will decend to our two daughter, FAY and OLIVE EVE. Twelve hundred dollares to be used by my wife for the education of said two daughters, FAY and OLIVE EVE. Also, all of my personal estate not heretofore disposed of. To my daughter MATTIE MOORE, I give the proceeds of a life insurance policy which I am carrying on my life in the Mutual Life and Benefit Insurance Company, Also one U.S. Government Bond of the denomination of one hundred dollars. CATES - Probated Feb 6th 1922 Minute Book 10 Page __ I, A. C. CATES, so make and publish this my last will and testament... Mentions: To my daughter, MRS. LOTTIE JANE VIA, one fifth of my tract of land in the 5th Civil District of Crockett Co., bounded on the North by LEWIS, SMITH, BLACKBURN and DAVIS; the east by CLYDE BLACKBURN, on the south by FIFE and NAILER and west by JOE YEARWOOD and CLAUDE FIFE... contains about, but not quite Twenty acres and includes the house and other buildings I now occupy... To my two grand children JAMES ALEXANDER CATES and FLORENCE CORINNE CATES, children of my son HORACE CATES, deceased, one fifth of my said tract of land above described, to be taken next to the share of MRS. VIA, containing nearly but not quite Twenty acres To my son L. E. CATES, one fifth of said above tract of land to be taken off next to the share of HOARACES children, for and during his life, and at his death, one fifth of his said share to go to his son LAMAN O. CATES and the remainder to his other heirs (not named). To my son R. G. CATES, one fifth of said above described tract of land to be taken off next to the share of L. E. CATES. To my daughter MRS. MAGGIE FRANCIS SULLIVAN, one fifth of my said tract of land, about but not quite, Twenty acres, her share being off of the extreme east end. MRS. VIA, who gets the home place which is more valuable than the other shares, is to pay to HORACES children seventy five dollars, to L. E. CATES, seventy five dollars and to MRS. SULLIVAN Two hundred dollars. The reason a larger sum is to be paid to MRS. SULLIVAN is because of the drainage tax on her part of the land. COX ===================================================================== Will of J. H. CATES - Probated May 26th 1923 Minute Book 10 Page __ I, JOHN H. CATES, of Crockett County, Tennessee, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me at any time made. Item 1: I nominate and appoint my wife MRS. LELA CATES, executor of this my will and testament, and direct that all my just debts, including funeral expenses be paid as soon after my death as may be. Item 2: I will and bequeath unto my wife MRS. LELA CATES all my personal property, also all my real estate during her life, in the event that my wife should die before my sons JACK and CHARLES CATES become twenty one years old, I want them to have the benefit of all my real estate until they become twenty one years of age then to be divided as follows; My home place where we now live I want to go to JACK and CHARLES CATES, the store building I want to go to my children BLYTHE CATES, BEULAH MURCHISON and the heirs of my daughter LOIS CATES PERMINTER. CATES being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void any and all wills heretofore made by me. 1st: - I desire my executor who I shall hereafter name to pay all my just debts including funeral expenses. 2: - I will and bequeath to my wife MRS. DORA CATES all the real estate I may have at my death so long as she is my widow, if she should marry again all of said real estate to revert back to my children to be equally divided between them. 3: - I give and bequeath to my wife MRS. DORA CATES one life insurance policy made to my estate calling for the sum of one thousand dollars the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. of Newark, New Jersy, policy No. 312150. 4: - I give and bequeath to my daughter MARY CATES a policy that I have in the Woodman of the World calling for one thousand dollars provided she is not married before my death. 5th: - I give and bequeath to my wife all of the personal property that I may have at the time of my death. 6th: - I hereby appoint my wife MRS. DORA CATES and my son HERBERT CATES my executors of this will and testament and having all confidence in them I desire that they be not required to give bond as such executors. I further appoint my wife MRS. DORA CATES and my son HERBERT CATES as guardians for my son LOYD and my daughter ALLIE SUE CATES as they have a policy made to them and I wish that they may use this money to the best advantage of these two children to spend the money as they see best for them. Will of EMERY CATES - Probated July 27, 1942 I, EMERY CATES, a resident of Alamo, Crockett County, Tennessee... do make and publish this my last will and testament... Mentions: To my wife, GERTRUDE CATES, all the balance of my personal property... also... the homeplace where we now live in the town of Alamo, Tennessee, on Vine Street, and the only condition that attaches to the devise to her of this homeplace is that, should it be necessary to sell any of my real estate, in order to create funds with which to pay my debts, this said homeplace shall be sold and, in that event, after my debts have been paid, the balance derived from sale of said homeplace shall be hers absolutely. Also... all the balance of my real estate... for her natural life or until she again marries. At the death of my wife, or when she shall have remarried, in either event, I give and bequeath to my son J. B. CATES, 60 acres, more or less, of land situated in the 6th Civil District of Crockett County, Tennessee, on which he now lives... At his death said land shall become the property of my Grandson, JAMES ANDREW CATES. On the death of my said wife or when she remarries, in either event, I give to my Granddaughter, CARRY EUGENE CATES... 50 acres of land located in the 6th Civil District of Crockett Co., known as the NORVILLE tract. 15 acres of land located in the 6th Civil District of Crockett Co., known as the JOHNNY OLIVER land. 63 acres, more of less, of land located in the 7th Civil District of Crockett Co., Conveyed to me by CLAUDE CONLY and C. O. LAMAN. ...With reference to the property bequeathed to my Granddaughter, CARRY EUGENE CATES, that in the event my wife should die or remarry before the said CARRY EUGENE CATES reaches the age of 21 years, I hereby name and appoint, as testamentary trustee, for my said Granddaughter, MISS GLEN CATES (formerly MRS. Mentions: To my daughter, SARAH LEE CATES RAINES my two store buildings on north side of public square in Alamo, Tenn. To my daughter ALICE CATES my farm in District #6 near Alamo, Tenn., known as the J. R. FARROW place. The above property to remain in possession of my wife AYMY DAVIS CATES to use for her support and the support of my children so long as she may live. To my wife AYMY DAVIS CATES the remainder of my property, consisting of house and lot in Bells, Tenn. Bank Stock and interest in my Insurance business and what money and notes I may die possessed of. Item One: To my foster daughter, LIDA SUE CATES SMITH, whom I raised and who is at present a citizen of Shawnee, Oklahoma, I do give, devise and bequeath my entire estate real personal and mixed and wherever same may be situated, to her sole and separate use, free from the martial rights of her present or any future husband.
