Dolphus Barnes 
Feb. 8, 1921-Sept. 22, 1996

Funeral Services for Dolphus Odel Barnes, 75 of Crossville, TN. who passed
away Sept. 22, 1996, were conducted at the Chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home at
1pm. Wednesday, Sept. 25,  with burial in the Turner Cemetery in Cumberland
County, TN. 

The Rev. Steven Pickard and Rev. Doug Swafford officiated with special music
by Steven Holmgren and family tapes by his daughter Sherri Purdy and Al
Watkins. 

Mr.  Barnes was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Cumberland County, TN.  to Virgil and
Mattie Testament Barnes. He was a drywall contractor and member of the First
Nazarene Church in Cookeville. Pallbearers were Greg Sherrill, Damon Allred,
Andy Gunter, David Barnes Jr. , Tim Barnes and Randy Williams. 

Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Viola Barnes, and his
daughter, Brenda Joyce Barnes. Survivors include sons, Donald E.  Barnes,
David L.  Barnes Sr.  and Stephen L.  Barnes, all of Crossville, daughter ,
Sherri Purdy of Crossville, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and
brother Ridley E.  Barnes-Bellbrook of Ohio. 

Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
