CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James S. Bristow, 29 Aug 2003 ----¤¤¤---- July 7,1919-Aug.29,2003 Funeral services were conducted Aug. 31,2003, from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home,for Bro. James Sewell Bristow, 84, of Crossville,TN.,who passed away Aug. 29, 2003. Burial in Harris Cemetery. Bro. Delbert Umphrey officiated. Pallbearers were Bro. Donnie Humphrey, Bro. Donald Humphrey, Bro. Michael Strickland, Bro. Clint Green, Bro. John Adcox and Bro. Randall Dye. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Buckner, Guy Buckner, Nathaniel Bristow, Brittany Bristow, Kaleb Buckner, Amber Buckner, Deidre Buckner, Hannah Buckner, Chloe Buckner, Amy Buckner and Annette Buckner. Mr. Bristow was born July 7, 1919 in Cumberland County, TN, the son of William Floyd and Rhoda Knox Bristow. He was a retired warehouse worker for Malone & Hyde and an Army veteran, having served our country during World War II. He was married to Trophy Spurlin Bristow for 56 years and was a Baptist minister for more than 50 years. He was a member of Creston Baptist Church and loved teaching the Bible in Sunday school. Survivors include his wife, Trophy Bristow of Crossville,TN.; son, James Cecil Bristow of Crossville,TN., daughters, Rhoda Wimberly of Lebanon, TN and Syble Buckner of Watertown, TN; brother, Clifford Bristow, and sister, Anna Belle Phipps, both of Crossville,TN., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
