Mattie Angeline Cox, 85, of Rockwood, passed away, Tuesday Nov. 5, 1996, 
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Nov. 8 from the Chapel of Evans 
Mortuary with interment at Haley Grove Cemetery, Crab Orchard. Rev. Jim 
Shelton officiated. Mrs.Cox was a member of the Haley Grove Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lige Cox and son, Lige Cox 
Jr. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Louise Hedrick, Della and 
William Pugh, Carolyn and Buddy Daniels, all of Rockwood; sons and daughters-
in-law, Lee Cox of Oakdale, Franklin and Lilly Cox of Thomasville, N.C.; James 
Doyle and Louise Cox of Crab Orchard, Bobby and Helen Cox of Thomasville, 
N.C.; and Claude and Jackie Cox of Thomasville, N.C.; 30 grandchildren; 65 
great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Wright of 
Dayton; and brother, Franklin Lemons of Spring City. Evans Mortuary was in 
charge of the arrangements.
