Funeral services for Dexter Michael Martin, O.D., of Olive Branch, MS, 
formerly of Crossville,will be conducted today (Friday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. 
Peter Catholic Church in Memphis, TN. Burial will be Monday, April 15 at 1 
p.m. in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Mr.Martin passed away April 9, 2002. Dr. Martin was born May 21, 1946, the son 
of Marie and G. Dexter Martin of Olive Branch, MS.
He was an optometrist. He graduated from Germantown (TN) High School, the 
University of Memphis and Memphis Southern College of Optometry. He was a 
member of the Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as an optometry officer 
and attaining the rank of major. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, 
the Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Service Star and two Bronze Service 
Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Bronze 
Star Medal, Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Army Service Ribbon and Good 
Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his parents, Marie and G. Dexter Martin of Olive Branch, MS; 
and sisters, Diane Martin Faul and B. Joan Martin Riemar, both of Cincinnati, 
OH.
