Hale JOHN B. DANIEL. A man of good education, devoting both his native powers and his attainments to the profession of his choice, John B. Daniel, of Nashville, Davidson county, has gained distinguished success as an attorney-at-law, and built up an extensive and lucrative practice. A son of John N. and Martha (Young) Daniel, he was born, September 9, 1861, in Perry county, Tennessee. His paternal grandfather, Woodson Daniel, was a life-long resident of Tennessee, and a representative of one of its earliest families, a family that came from North Carolina at an early day to Tennessee, locating in Dickson county in pioneer days. John N. Daniel, a native of Tennessee, was prosperously engaged in agricultural pursuits during his active career, owning and occupying a valuable farm in Perry county. He took an active part in the Civil war, serving faithfully and conscientiously as a soldier in the Confederate army. Brought up on a farm, John B. Daniel obtained his rudimentary education in the public schools of Perry county, and being fitted for college at Cloverdale, Dickson county. Taking up then the study of law, Mr. Daniel was graduated from the law department of the Cumberland University, in Lebanon, Tennessee, with the class of 1882. Immediately thereafter he began the practice of his profession in Linden, Tennessee, meeting with encouraging success, his ability bringing him into prominence to such an extent that during that same year, 1882, he was elected to the state legislature. At the expiration of his term of service in that august body, Mr. Daniel opened a law office in Nashville, and during the years that have since elapsed has risen to a high rank among the leading lawyers of both city and county. In politics Mr. Daniel is a straightforward Democrat, and religiously he is a trustworthy member of the Christian church. Mr. Daniel married, in January, 1884, Miss Theresa Pendleton.
