Know all men by these presents that I Martin Greer of the County of Davidson
and state of Tennessee have constituted made and appointed and do by these
presents constitute make and appoint Samuel Mays of the same County and state
my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name and stead mandate my use to
ask demand sue for levy and recover and receive all such sum and sums of money
Debts rents goods wares dues accounts and other demands whatsoever which are
or shall be due owing payable and, belonging to me or detained from me any
manner of way whatsoever in the state of Virginia by Given and granting unto
my said attorney by these presents my full and whole strength and authority in
and about the premises in said state, to have use and take all lawful ways and
means in my name for the recovery there of and upon the receipt of any such
debits present sums of money aforesaid acquired and or when sufficient
discharged for me and in my name to make and seal and deliver and
generally______ Every other act and acts thing and things device and devices
in the law whatsoever needful and necessary to be done in and aboute the
primises to sell and dispose of all ______ . 

Every tract or tracts of land or lands as shall or may be belonging to me in 
anyway whatsoever in the said state of Virginia and to make a deed and Deeds 
as the law may require for me and in my name to so Execute and perform as 
fully largely and amply to all interests and purposes as I myself could or 
might do if I was personally present or as if the mater required more special 
authority then is herein given and authorizies one or more under him the said 
Samuel Mays to make and constitute and ______________

 aboute the primises by virtue hereof in witness whereof I have hereunto set 
my hand and affixed my seal this 16th day of April 1817.

This day personally appeared before us Robert Thompson and Stephen Cantrell 
Jr. two of the Justices of the peace for the County of Davidson and State of 
Tennessee - Martin Greer and acknowledged the Execution of the within power of 
attorney to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained given under 
our hands and seals this 16th day of April 1817.

State of Tennessee Davidson County Sel

I Nathan Ewing Clerk of this Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions for said county
do hereby certify to whom it may concern that Robert Thompson and Stephen
Cantrell Junr. Esquires whose names are signed to the forgoing Acknowledgement
of the Power of Attorney was at the time their names appears to have been
signed to the same and now is two of the Acting Justices of the Peace in and
for said County and of said Court duly sworn missioned and qualified as Such
full faith and Conduct is and ought to be given to their official acts in
Courts of Justice and thereout.

In Testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said
court at office in Nashville this 9th day of May in the year of our Lord 1817
