To wit: To the Worshipful the Court of Pleas and quarter…for Davidson County your Petitioner Susan Thompson widow of Jason Thompson dec'd who resided at the time of his decease in the county and State aforesaid would represent that said Jason Thompson died seized and possessed of the following tracts of land. To wit: 196 acres in what is known as the home tract whereon said Jason resided at the time of his death, situated on Mill creek, Davidson County Tenn. 99 1/4 acres on the waters of Mill creek known as the MENIFEE tract, Davidson County Tennessee. 440 acres in the Mill creek tract adjoining Nolensville in Williamson County Tennessee. 80 acres in Rutherford County Tenn. on the east side of Stones river in the first district also 200 or 300 acres on the head waters of Stones river in the county aforesaid, also 200 or more acres on Leatherwood or Bear creek on Duck river situate 13th Range and 1st Section Hickman County Tennessee. Also the following parcels of land lying and being in Carroll County Tenn. To wit: 171 acres in the 13th District, 4th Range Section on the waters of the middle fork of Forked Deer river. Also 317 acres on the waters of Cubb (?) creek, 7th Range and 10th Section in Perry county Tennessee. Also 222 acres, 13th District, 1st Section and 5th Range on the north fork of Forked Deer river in Gibson County Tennessee. Petitioner would represent that she is entitled to her dower out of the above mentioned tracts of land as the widow of said Jason Thompson dec'd and prays that it may be allotted her according to Law and that commissioners be appointed to divide and set apart her interest in all the personalty, etc. The originals or copies of the deeds to said Jason Thompson will be produced if practicable when said motion is made. State of Tennessee Davidson County Court January Sessions 1836 This day To wit February 5th 1836 came the Plaintiff by her Attorney and presented her petition representing to the court here that her said husband died seized and possessed of sundry tracts of land lying in different counties in this state which are particularly mentioned and described in said petition out of which she is entitled to have her dower laid off according to Law and praying the court to order the sherriff of said counties respectively in which said lands are situated to summon Juries of good and lawful men unconnected with said Susan or the heirs of said Jason either by affinity or consanguinity and them being first duly sworn proceed to lay off and set apart to said Susan her dower, etc. And it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that the said defendants who are of lawful age and the Guardians of the minors have had ten days notice of the time and place of presenting this petition. It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the court that the prayer of said petition be granted and that the said Sherriff summon Jurors in pursuance thereof and having laid off said dower according to Law make report thereof to our ensuing court.
