DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - James Meredith to Thomas Allen, 25 Jan 1800 ----¤¤¤---- Davidson County Register of Deeds Warranty Deeds (Register Book) Volume: E Date 1798-1807 p. 376 from Metropolitan Government Archives Nashville, TN THOMAS ALLEN August 16, 1802 This Indenture made the twenty fifth day Jany in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred between James Meredith of the one part and THOMAS ALLEN of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars in hand paid by the said THOMAS ALLEN of and before the ensealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged both hereby give grant alien confirm transfer convey and confirm unto the said THOMAS ALLEN his heirs and assigns forever certain tract or Parsel of land situate lying and being in the County of Davidson on waters of Big Harpeth containing one hundred acres be the same more or less. Beginning at the West corner running East one hundred and thirty two and a half poles to two Hickories on the East bank of Face Creek, thence North one hundred twenty two and a half poles to the North East corner two Hornbeams on Haiys South boundary thence West one hundred thirty two and a half poles to the North East corner to two Hickories, thenceforth one hundred twenty two and a half poles to the Beginning with the appurtenances lying and being as the State of Tennessee and the County aforesaid with their and every of their Rights Titles Claims hereby granted or any part or parts thereof. To have and to hold the said Land and Premises hereby with their appurtenances unto the said THOMAS ALLEN his heirs and assigns forever to the only use and keep of him the said THOMAS ALLEN his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Meredith for himself and his heirs and adm do then hereby covenant and agree to hand with the said THOMAS ALLEN that he will covenant and forever defend the said Land and Premises to him the said THOMAS ALLEN his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims whereby the above mentioned Premises may be affected incumbrences contrary to the true intent and meaning of these presents In witness whereof the said James Meredith hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal, the day and year first above written Witness Zachariah Allen and John Mailive James (his mark) Meredith The execution of which Deed of Conveyance was above recited was in Court held for the County of Davidson July Sessions 1802 to be the Act and Deed of the said James Meredith by the oath of Zachariah Allen a subscribing witness thereto.
