Col. Willoughby Williams declines being a candidate for re-election for 

Sheriff of Davidson County under the New Constitution. The card giving his 

reasons will be found in our columns. We believe that we represent the 

feelings of the great body of the people in saying, that Col. Williams has 

discharged his arduous and responsible duties of Sheriff very much to the 

public satisfaction, and that his resolution to retire from it is much 

regretted.
