REED, of the old firm, and T.J. YARBROUGH have purchased the entire stock, and under the name and style of REED & YARBROUGH will continue the wholesale grocery and commission business at the old stand, corner of Broad and Cherry streets. They are both good business men, and withal clever and accommodating. Success to the new firm. Farm for sale, lease, or rent by Jo. H. VANLEER, 76 and 78 South Market street. Injured: Sunday night Patrick FAHEY while coupling cars at the Chattanooga depot had one of his feet caught by the brake beam and painfully mashed. He is doing well, and is not permanently injured. Painful Accident: Sunday evening Mr. H. SPITZ,residing at 383 South Cherry street, fell down a flight of steps and fractured both bones of her left leg. Important Will Case: Last Saturday in the Circuit Court of Montgomery county, Judge James E. Rice presiding, the will of the late Frederick THOMPSON, leaving a life estate and all of his property to his wife, and at her death to go to the board of publication of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, was set aside under an issue of devisavit vel non. A motion for a new trial was asked for and being overruled, an appeal to the Supreme Court was prayed. The case involved the best legal talent of the Clarksville bar, and created much interest. An Old Lady Found Dead in Her Bed: An inquest was held by D.N. NEYLAN, Esq., upon the remains of Mrs. Polly Potts, who was found dead in her bed yesterday morning. The deceased came to this city sometime back from Franklin, and located near the Cotton Factory, in North Nashville, in order to be convenient for her daughter, who was employed in that establishment. (More) Death of John C. THOMPSON (This is John Claiborne Thompson): We announce this morning with regret the death of Maj. John C. Thompson, one of the most prominent members of the Nashville Bar, and one of our best and most useful citizens. He died on Sunday last, after an illness of several months. Melange: A lady who is not thoroughly posted in natural history asked a friend who was going to Utah to bring her a couple of Mormons for her aquarium. Applicants for admission to the "anxious seats" at Georgia revival meetings are searched for whisky bottles and revolvers. All such "truck" found upon them is appropriated for the extension of the gospel. DEATH OF J.C. THOMPSON: Meeting of the Bar…Respect to the Memory of J.C. Thompson: in the Supreme Court rooms at 9 1/2 o'clock, E.B. MCCLANAHAN, Esq., announced the death of the Hon. John C. Thompson, on the 2nd of February, 1873. (Tributes and resolutions follow. Mr. Thompson participated in the State Convention of 1870) Pall-bearers were then appointed, as follows: M. VAUGHN, J.C. GAUT, J.D. RICE, Col. T.H. MALONE, Col. Baxter SMITH, John LELLYETT, Gen. J.M. QUARLES, J.P. HELMS, J.H. SHANKLAND, C.D. BERRY, S. WATSON, Jr. In order to enable the members of the bar to attend the funeral services, the meeting then adjourned to 4 0'clock, P.M. (More resolutions and testimonials)…Several members of the bar were misinformed as to the adjournment of the meeting held in the forenoon. Much regret was felt on this account, as some of the warmest friends of the deceased failed to attend the afternoon meeting.
