June 28, 1892 Nashville, Tenn., June 22. -- John H. McDowell, president of the state alliance, has bolted to the third party. This decision he announces in a six- column article in The Toiler, the offical organ of the alliance. He reviews the political situation and claims that he has not deserted the Jeffersonian principles of the democracy in advocating the third party. President McDowell's action has been anticipated for some time, and the only question among the democrats is will he resign the $9,000 position of Nasville coal oil inspector that he holds under a democratic administration.
