Strayed from the pasture of J. A. PAYNE about the 1st of August last, a bay horse with a snip nose and a blemish in the left eye, one or both hind feet white, some saddle marks on his back, fox-trots and walks well. Wm. T. WRIGHT The Mechanic's Institute Fair. Since the opening Monday night the Fair has been attended by large crowds…The first floor of the spacious storeroom contains some specimens of mechanical work which are highly creditable. We are surprised at the paucity of entries in this line, considering that it is a Mechanic's Fair…a note of some of the things to be seen: a watch movement complete…made entirely in this city by Mr. A. COCHRANE…also a fine display from home and abroad. EWING & Brothers and MORGAN & Co. enter some excellent specimens of cotton yarns and staple domestics from the factory of Messrs. THOMPSON & CLAIBORNE of Franklin, Tenn. Messrs. MORGAN and W. H. LUCAS exhibit…the addition of jeans and linseys from Sylvan Mills at Shelbyville by GOSLING and GILLILAND. Mark R. COCKRILL exhibits a piece of very fine cashmere made at a factory in Connecticut from wool grown by himself in this vicinity. Hats, caps and furs, of superior make, fashion, and finish are presented by FRANCISCO…much more Among the distinguished arrivals in the city yesterday we notice that of Col. Robt. HATTON of Wilson county. The Colonel is stopping at the City Hotel. Hon. Isham G. HARRIS, Governor elect, arrived in the city yesterday and has taken rooms at the Commercial Hotel. The Bank of Middle Tennessee…To the Public. In view of the excitement growing out of the suspension of some of the Banks of the State, the undersigned owners of the Bank of Middle Tennessee deem it proper to announce that their individual property is hereby pledged to the depositors and note-holders.
