 "Thomas Jefferson Biggers, an old and highly respected citizen, died this 
morning about 8:20 o'clock at his home at 43 Highland Ave. [Nashville, TN.] 
Mr. Biggers suffered a stroke of paralysis some days ago and sank into an 
unconscious condition from which he never rallied. He was 73 years old and had 
lived most of his life in Nashville, coming here when a youth from Dickson 
County. He early in his life embraced Christianity and was a devout member of 
Highland Avenue Christian Church at the time of his death. He was [of] a noble 
and generous nature, and the good deeds of his life will be cherished by those 
who were fortunate enough to possess his friendship. Though quiet and 
unassuming. he took a deep interest in the welfare of Nashville and 
contributed his share towards developing its industries. Death claimed his 
wife [Mary Jane McCrory Biggers] last May and he never fully recovered from 
her loss. Mr. Biggers reared a large family of children, one of whom is Mr. 
James Biggers, who has charge of the Banner art department, and his last hours 
were soothed by their presence."

The funeral will take place from the Highland Avenue Christian Church at 10 
o'clock tomorrow morning, and the remains will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet." 


Additional Comments:
This obituary incorrectly states that Mr. Biggers lived most of his life in 
Nashville when, in fact, he only lived in Davidson Co. for the last twenty 
years of his life. (He is listed in Dickson Co. census records of 1860 and 
1870, and does not appear in Davidson Co.census until 1880.) Mr. Biggers is 
buried beside his wife at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the old 'single grave' 
section.
