Gen. Lytle Brown, died today at her home, 3809 Dartmouth Ave., after a lengthy illness. The body is at Finley Dorris and Charlton Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Mrs. Brown was the mother of Neill S. Brown, director of law for Metropolitan Government. She was born in Sycamore, Tenn., July 27, 1883, the daughter of Maj. E. C. and Pauline Dunn Lewis. At the time, her father was superintendent of the old DuPont Powder Plant there. They moved to Nashville several years later and she was educated at the old Ward Seminary. She was married to Gen. Brown in 1902. During the lengthy Army career, they lived in Washington and at various Army installations across the country and in Panama. Her husband retired in 1938 and they returned to Franklin to live. Gen. Brown, who held the chief of Army Engineers post from 1929 to 1933, died in 1951. Mrs. Brown lived in Franklin until about two years ago when she came to Nashville. She was a member of the old First Presbyterian Church, now known as Downtown Presbyterian Church. In addition to her son, Neill Brown, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Brown Folk, Nashville; three other sons, Lytle Brown of Oxon Hill, Md., Dr. James Trimble Brown, Loveland, Colo., and Lewis C. Brown, St. Louis; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
