Mrs. Sharpe was born in Davidson County, the eldest daughter of the late Harry D. and Lizzie Nichol, and was a descendant of a family which settled in this section in 1798. She was born March 1, 1875, at Bell Aire, the estate of her grandfather, William Nichol, who was at one time Mayor of Nashville, and for years a prominent merchant-broker. She received her education at Soule College, in Murfreesboro, and at the old Baskerville College in Nashville. On December 3, 1892, she was married to Mr. Sharpe. In addition to her husband she is survived by two children, Percy Sharpe, Jr., of Camden, N.J., and Mrs. Richard G. Deener, of Searcy, Ark. She is also survived by five sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Edwin Noel, Mrs. Elizabeth Spicer, Miss Roberta Nichol, Mrs. Sam Sweeney, Jr., of Nashville; Mrs. G. N. Keeling of San Antonio, Texas; J. Searcy Nichol and Wendel Nichol of Nashville; and H. D. Nichol of Paducah, Ky. Mrs. Sharpe was a member of the West End Methodist Church. Since her husband’s retirement from business several years ago, they have traveled extensively at home and abroad. A summer home was maintained at Montgue, and during the months Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe had been accustomed to staying at the Homestead. She had attended the Vanderbilt-Tulane game Saturday afternoon and had appeared in her usual good health Saturday evening, however, she suffered a heart attack after her return home and the end came a few minutes later at 10:30 o’clock Mrs. Sharpe was widely known and admired and was possessed of those attributes of mind and heart which endeared her to an ever-widening circle of friends. --------------------------------------- Submitted by Margaret Nolen Nichol (Julia Margaret Nichol Sharpe died October 17, 1931.
