This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Margaret Nolen Nichol MNNICHOL@aol.com ==================================================================== Rites For Sharpe To Be Held Today ------------------------------------- Former Mayor Dies At Madison Sanitarium ---------------------------------------------- Funeral services for Percy Sharpe, 73, former mayor of Nashville, who died yesterday morning at Madison Sanitarium, will be held at 3:30 o’clock this afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Creighton, 3720 Brighton Road. Dr. George Stokes will officate, and burial will follow in a private cemetery. Mr. Sharpe served as mayor from November 24, 1922, until June 5, 1923, having been elected by the city council to fill out the unexpried term of Felix Z. Wilson. He was a member of the county court from 1824 to 1930. Born in Anderson, S.C., Mr. Sharpe had made his home in Nashville for about 50 years, 35 of which were spent in the furniture business. His wife, the former Miss Julia Margaret Nichol of Nashville, died in 1931. He was a member of the West End Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge. Surviving are: a son, W. P. Sharpe, of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Mr. R. G. Deener, of Searcy, ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Dowlin, Charlotte, N.C,; and Mrs. Daisy Cobb, of Anderson, S.C.
