DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN - VITALS - Marriage, Francis Bell to Elizabeth Allen, 6 Jan 1809 ----¤¤¤---- Marriage License, January 6th 1809, Metropolitan Government Archives 3801 Green Hills Village Drive (Xerox copy) Know all men, that we Francis Bell & Jeremiah Fields of the county of Davidson, and state of Tennessee, are held and firmly bound unto the governor of the said state, for the time being, in the sum of 1250 dollars, to be paid to his said excellency, his successors in office, or assigns; to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, and each and every of us and them, both jointly and severally, firmly these presents. Witness our hands and seals this 6th day of January 1809. The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas Francis Bell hath prayed and obtained a license to marry Elizabeth Allen. Now if the said Elizabeth Allen be an actual resident in the aforesaid county, and there shall not hereafter appear any lawful cause why the said Francis Bell & Elizabeth Allen should not be joined together in Holy Matrimony, as husband and wife, then this obligation to be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
