Campbell on August 14, 1998. Copied 10 March 1993 by Margie Campbell. Found on film 200,25__ (2?) at Family History Library in Stockton, CA. Will Recorded 22 Mar 1816. Located in Davidson Co TN will book for 1804-20, pg. 446, will #291. My transcription below is from a copy of the handwritten will. The writing is very hard to read, and the film was not perfect. One will need to check the original filmed document to confirm information. Last Will and Testament of Ann Hay 16th day of April, 1814. I Ann Hay of the County of Davidson and State of Tennessee do hereby make my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following that is to say - First I desire that out of the perishable part of my Estate, after my Decease, all my just debts and funeral Expenses be paid. 2ndly after the payment of my debt & funeral Expenses I give to my son James CAMPBELL his Executors & administrators. A young double head Stud Colt, three or four years old. His choice of one of my beds and furniture belonging to it. Also thirty head of sheep and three hundred Dollars in Cash. 3rdly I give to my son Edward W. HAY who is now abroad, three lots in the town of Nashville, known on the plan of the said town as one hundred and fourteen, one hundred and fifteen and one hundred and sixteen, to him and his heirs forever. Also three hundred dollars in cash provided my said son Edward should return to this place within seven years from my Decease, but if it should so happen that my said son Edward should not return within that time it is my desire that the said three lots should be sold by my Executors hereafter named and the monies arising there from and aforesaid three hundred dollars with its interest be equally divided among my grand children, and that the same may be as productive as possible, it is my wish that my executors rent out the said three lots and put the money to interest for the use of my said son if he should return within the time aforesaid and if not, then to my said grand children. 4thly, it is my desire that my executors out of the monies from the sales hereafter mentioned, vest one thousand dollars in stock of the Nashville Band and that the interest arising therefrom be given to my son David HAY during his natural life for a support, and after his death it is my desire that the said bank stock be equally divided among my said grand children. 5thly, I give to my daughter in law Barbara HAY her executors (&*&) one feather bed and furniture, my white riding mare and saddle. Also one cow and calf her choice of one half of the kitchen furniture and one Bureau. 6thly, I give to my grad daughter Sophronia W. CAMPBELL her executors - one thousand dollars in money two Negro girls viz. Jenney and Mary, also my large bible on desk, one dozen of silver tea spoons, and pair of sugar tongs and cream spoon, set of table spoons my best sorrel mare and the second choice of my beds and furniture. 7thly, I give to my grandson Patrick W. CAMPBELL his executors - a Negro boy named Randal and my young brown mare. 8thly, I give to my grandson William CAMPBELL a Negro girl named Violet, and a young sorrel horse,. 9th I desire that all the perishable part of my estate not heretofore specifically named, together with all my horses and lots in the town of Nashville, my out lot beyond the south field and my farm on the north side of Cumberland River be immediately sold after my decease. Out of the monies arising therefrom that my executors pay the legends heretofore mentioned and the residue to be equally divided among my grand children Sophronia W CAMPBELL , Patrick W CAMPBELL, William P CAMPBELL, James G CAMPBELL, Albert G CAMPBELL and E(?)pedolphius D CAMPBELL, and to be enjoyed by them forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends William (TIST, TATE, FISK, RISK?), and Thomas Cruthers executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments (sign?) heretofore made. In witness where I have herewith set my hand and affixed my seal at Nashville this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord and Savior 1814. In obedience of an order of the County Court of Davidson, Appointing undersigned commissioners to lay off & divide the half a lot of ground in the town of Nashville, known in the plan of said town as Northland, which was lately the property of Ann HAY (decd.) & others and in pursuance thereof the commissioners met and proceeded to divide the same in the following manner so as to make each part equal in value- for that part whereon the house stands, fifty feet front on Water St & extending back half the lot, designated in the drawing as #1. For the next and adjoining part, seventy feet front on Water St (#2 in drawing). And for the next adjoining below seventy-eight feet front on Water St (#3 in drawing) and extending down to lot #5 in said town & the commissioners in pursuance of the authority aforesaid procedures(?) to drawing for said #'s and assigns the same to the following persons: To the executors of Ann Hay (decd.) the fifty feet with house (#1). To Edward HAY (son) #2. James CAMPBELL #3 Given under our hands this 25th day of Jan 1816 Andrew HYNES, D. Mc. GAROCK, M. BARROW, Jonathon BOYD, Jn. HARDING This day filed under misclys. of January 1816. State of Tennessee, Davidson County Court, January sessions 1816 which Davidson being returned into open court it is thereupon considered(?) by the court that each ones share equable to the allotment division aforesaid be and to the allotment decision aforesaid be and remain to them & their heirs & assigns forever. {note: all items followed by (?) in some manner are of real question...
