Page 492           Will of Samuel Bell, Sr., deceased, of Davidson County. 

Feb 28, 1821           Sept 18, 1819. To my beloved wife Jane Bell possession 

of my now dwelling house and kitchen and so much of the kitchen furniture and 

other household items during her natural life, also a negro girl named Betsey 

during her lifetime then to be disposed of.  To my son John Bell the land I 

have deeded to him on the waters of the Harpeth, his share. To my son-in-law 

Samuel Scott whose wife is dead the sum of $5.00 besides what I have already 

given him. To my beloved daughter Jane Orr $40.00 besides what I have already 

given her. To my beloved daughter Issabella Williamson $5.00 besides what I 

have already given her. To my beloved daughter Sarah Bell one third of a negro 

girl Patsey after the decease of my wife Jane Bell besides what I have already 

given her. To my beloved daughter Martha Bell now single, two thirds of the 

negro girl Patsey after the decease of my wife, also one horse, saddle and 

bridle also other items. To my son Samuel Green Bell $20.00 besides what I have 

already given him. To my beloved son James Bell $35.00 besides what I have 

already given him. To my son Robert Bell $60.00 besides what I have already 

given him. To my beloved son Thomas Bell the plantation whereon I now live also 

other items and he is to provide every necessary for the support of his aged 

mother during her natural life. I appoint my two sons John and Thomas Bell and 

Charles Hays as executors.  

This 18 Sept 1819. Wit: Thomas Williamson, John Bell and Thomas Bell. Jan Term 

1821.
