CHILDRESS Davidson Co., TN March 18, 1811 (Wills VOL. 4, 5, 6 1805-16) #138 IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I JOHN CHILDRESS SR. of the County of Davidson and the State of TN being of sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say it is my will and desire that my property be disposed of as follows: Imprimises I loan to my WIFE NANCY CHILDRESS during her natural life the tract of land with the appurtenances thereto belonging whereon I now live together with all my plantation and farming tools and utensils, all my HH and kitchen furniture and my stock of horses, cattle and hogs together, with the following negroes: Jack, Natl, Frank, Rachel and Stephen and also, I give unto my said wife, NANCY the debts of every description that may be due me at my death for the purpose of enabling her to educate and raise my youngest son EDWIN and it is my will and desire that at the death of my WIFE the said negroes above mentioned to wit: Jack, Natl, Rachel and Stephen and their increase together with such of my personal property as she may see possessed of may be equally divided between my 6 following named children to with: WILLIAM, HENRY, JOHN, THOMAS, EDWIN and PATSY BARROW. To them their heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son EDWIN aft the death of my wife the tract of land and plantation where I now live to him and his heirs and assigns forever. I also give unto my said son EDWIN a negro boy named Nelson to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son WILLIAM CHILDRESS a negro woman named Comfort to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son HENRY CHILDRESS a negro boy named Joe and a lot in the town of Franklin of number therein, said, town to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son THOMAS CHILDRESS a negro man named Affrican to him, his heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my daughter PATSY BARROW two negro girls Lear and Easter and their increase and also, a horse saddle and bridle to her and her heirs forever, the horse and saddle the same that she now has in her possession. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my said, SIX CHILDREN above, the 8,000 acres lying on the west side of the Tennessee River to be divided among them to quality and quantity, share and share alike to them and their heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto the heirs of my SONS: ELISHA and ROBERT, deceased and to my daughter NANCY SHUTE $2:00 each to be paid to them by my executors in full for their proposition of my estate and lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my sons JOHN and THOMAS CHILDRESS and my friend THOMAS HICKMAN and ROBERT SEARCY Executors of this my last WILL and Testament with full power to do and execute my wishes as herein, before, stated hearby, annuling and revoking all other WILL or WILLS by me heretofore, made.
