Nashville June 30th 1882



I Madison Kyle of Davidson County State of Tennessee.  This is my first and 

last Will to whom and may it all concern.  That I am sensible of mind and what 

I am going to do and day.  I was born in North Carolina Bunkin Co. My Masters 

name is Thos. Kyle.  I came to Nashville after the war. My age is 63 years of 

age.  I have married in Nashville in the year 1863 to one Susan Cannon.  I was 

married in North Alabama.  My wife name there was Jennie Hodges a slave at that 

time.  We had a family of one boy and three girls living after my first wife 

Jennie Hodges.  My oldest girl is name Melisia Kyle.  The next Eveline Kyle the 

next Martha Kyle.  My only son is name Hanibal Kyle.  I enlisted in the army in 

the fall of 1862 or the spring of 1863. My captains name was Kimbals Co A 110th 

Vol Regiment Colored.  My discharge papers are in the hand of Col Griffin U S 

Claim Agent of Nashville Tenn for the collecting of the bounty due me for 

during the service.



I Madison Kyle wish bounties if collected and also a house and lot situated in 

Line Street South Side of said Street next to the Louisville Trestle. I do this 

say sign my hand to this will and convey to my present wife Susan Kyle and to 

her only for her own use and benefit for ever and ever. For her support or 

dispose of any way she please for her maintainance.  



I Madison Kyle do this day bar my children or any relations from having any 

claim to this property or bounty.  This 30th day of June 1882.
