DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN - WILLS - Bartholemew Stephens, 15 Apr 1865 ----¤¤¤---- Will of Bartholemew Stephens Davidson County Will Book 21: P. 329 After all my just debts are paid, I Bartholemew Stevens this day being of sound mind and good health but advanced considerably in age about eighty seven years of age. Considering the uncertainty of this immortal life do make this my last will and testament to wit that is to say. I will and bequeath to my daughter Sally Brown Fifty Dollars in Tennessee money. I will and bequeath to my son John Stevens one tract or parcel of land where he now lives to wit Beginning on a Beech running south 80 degrees west 43 poles to a stake, Thence South 33 degrees west 38 poles to a Beech, Thence south 21 degrees west 24 poles to a stake on a ridge, Thence south 51 degrees east 70 poles to a Hickory. Thence North 88 degrees east 40 poles to a Chestnut & Hickory, thence North 4 degrees east 52 poles to a walnut. Thence North 19 degrees west 44 poles to a small beech, thence North 31 degrees west 20 poles to the Beginning. Containing about forty acres more or less. I will and bequeath to my son Robert Stevens a certain parcel of land Beginning on a White Oak running west 20 poles to sugar tree, thence south on hundred poles to a Small Hickory on a ridge, Thence North 42 degrees east 43 poles to a Beech Thence strait line to the Beginning. Containing about 13 acres. I also give and bequeath to my son Robert Stevens Fifty Dollars Tennessee money. I will and bequeath to my daughter Lizabeth a home where I now live during her life time also one half of my household and furniture. I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Stevens a home where I now live during her lifetime also one half of my household and furniture. If either Elizabeth or Nancy Stevens should marry and at their death should have living children they are to heir the land that I have not give to others. But if they die without a living child or children said land is to be equally divided among my grandchildren. I will and bequeath to my daughter Jane Godwyn Fifty Dollars in Tennessee money. I will and bequeath to my son William Henry Stevens one parcel or tract of land to wit Beginning on a chestnut Oak & Hickory in John Hortan's line running with said line North 88 degrees east 50 poles to a black gum my south east corner. Thence North 55 degrees & with Davidson line 54 poles to a stake and Dogwood. Thence North 34 p to a stake. Thence N 85 degrees W 105 poles to a sugar tree & Beech, thence South 19 degrees East 30 poles to Walnut. Thence South 4 degrees West 52 poles to a chestnut Oak & Hickory the beginning. Containing about 37 acres. My personal affects that I have not otherwise given is to be equally divided among all my children.
