This writing is to show my will and desire to wit. I do not want my daughter Letice CANNON nor my daughter Mariah BRETON any more of my estate. I mean the negroes, nor my son Robert C. Thompson neither my daughter Polly, but for my daughter Polly to have her choice to have six hundred dollars out of my estate one twelve months after my death or to tai two hundred and 50 or sixty acres of land which I do hold adjoining of Mr. BULLARD on the waters of Stones River and the said land adjoins the land that I did convey to Willis CANNON and also adjoins James BRETONS, if my daughter Polly takes the land she is not to have the above sum and if she do not the said land must be sold at one and two years credit with good security by my executors. I do also give John McNairy Thompson the one half of my Harper (Harpeth River?) tract with four negroes, James and ago her child Leed (?), her child Ted (?), and Sidney and when the money from NICHOLS is got he is to have four hundred dollars out of it. I do also give my son H. Thompson the Mill Creek plantation and the rents for his own use with four negroes to wit: Nelly and Washington and David and Peter with four hundred dollars out of the money of Nichols and his roan colt and also I do give this plantation whereon I do now live to my son Joseph Thompson with four negroes to wit: young Mariah and Henry her brother and Ben her brother and Michael Phebes son and old John BAKERS note for six hundred dollars and I believe 75 dollars 62 cents. I do also give my daughter Susannah Thompson one half of the thousand acre tract on Wolf River with one half of the two hundred and 22 acre tract wherever it lays in the western District and the other half of both of the above named tracts. I do give to my daughter Levency I mean the Wolf river land and half of the two hundred 22 acres tract wherever it lays by Mr. BARKER and the other is out branches (?) 3000 acres tract on Wolf river with ten negroes to my two daughters Susannah and Levency, Anthony John and his wife and three children with Ted(?)and her son Nelson and Ben and his wife Mariah and for my wife Susannah Thompson to have the use of the above mentioned ten negroes to raise the three youngest children on and if either of them do die before they are married to have issue that the half of said negroes at the death of my wife is to be equally to be divided amongst all of my children and my son Joseph should without any issue his part of his estate I do mean the plantation whereon I do now live is to be sold and divided between all my heirs, only I do expect my wife to have her dower but she is not at liberty to sell her dower nor to destroy my timber only for the use of the farm till my son Joseph comes of age, she may send (?) the tree tops that is cut down for rails and no further. I do also give Caleb to my son Joseph Thompson and for Joseph to pay to Susanna and Laviney my two daughters the one half of his price to be paid when they are married and if they never marry he is to pay them when they are of age eighteen and my wife Susannah is to have the labour of Caleb for the purpose of her support and the children, Joseph and Susannah my daughter and Levency and if I do or she my wife gets any money of her estate, that money must be divided amongst all of her and mine children and Ira C. KNEELAND. I do leave my wife all of the house and furniture only when my son John McNairy Thompson calls for a bed and furniture he is to have it and also my son Jason H. Thompson he is to have a good bed and furniture also, and also the other four children. I mean Joseph and Susannah and Levency and Jr. C. KNEELAND, my step son he is to have a good hundred dollar horse and saddle, he is to have one years schooling more and no more if he will live with his Mother and sisters till he becomes twenty one years of age. After dividing my negroes amongst my children I find I have some I call surplus, for which give to my son Robert C. Thompson. Matilda, John's daughter and he is to have up all his notes I hold on him , one note for 150 dollars and one other for $100 and one other small one I do not recollect. I also give Mariah child negro Mack to Catherine CANNON my daughter Lettice child, and I do also give Phebes a negro boy about two or three years old to my daughter Poly A. CATURON (CATRON?) for her name for her grand mother. As for all my horses I do allow them to be sold only two and keep the farming tools with the waggon on the place, the two horses my (blank space) is to take choice of them and the rest to be sold, the horse that my step son is to have, he is to have him at the age of eighteen, the said horse is to be given by his mother raised on the plantation, but it is understood that the Ira C. Kneeland should go off and not stay all I have willed to him is void and he is not to have any thing, the property is to be sold and divided amongst all of the proper heirs, the said Ira. Kneeland must stay till he is twenty years or twenty one and look over the business for his Mother and to help to raise his sisters. After giving all my negroes to my children I find Stephen and Jacob and little Caleb not divided it is to be understood that old Caleb the father of little Caleb shall be sold at one years credit and Stephen to be kept in his place to raise the young children as I do think that Stephen will do the same service as Caleb would do, and if I should die before I come back Caleb and Jacob is to be sold for the purpose of paying my debts and the balance of the money is to be refunded equal amongst all of my heirs and the money that is owing of my wife's estate and my own is to be equally to be divided amongst all of my children and if Robert C. Thompson will brake and see to the breaking of the will of Ira C. Kneeland that I employed Abner L. DUNCAN to do for me he the said Robert C. Thompson shall have the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to break the said will of the said Ira C. Kneeland and the thousand dollars I did pay to Duncan he should have and he can't get it he shall have the above sum out of the estate, and last of all that property that I do carry down to the Natchez Country after HEARDEN (?) Judgment is paid, debts in court now hanging up and the out lands to be given to my youngest child if my wife is now with child and if not they are to be sold and equally to be divided between all my children and the money of my wife and my money that is owing to my estate shall be equally divided between them all, the amount is now in the hands of John NICHOLS that purchased my negroes of about $6000 and odd dollars and my wife Susannah Thompson is about $3205.77 cents for which all this money if it got is to be equal be divided between all of my children, the out land one hundred acres on which William BENAM (BURNAM?) now lives I do give to John McNairy Thompson the one hundred acres on Duck river where John FEILDEN (?) lives, I do give to Jason H. Thompson but he is to pay five hundred dollars to my two daughters to wit Susannah and Levency at the age of eighteen and whole of this writing is my wish except errors as witness my hand and seal. I do allow all of that land to go to two of the Leatherwood land all of it I do allow to go to my daughters, Susannah and Levency and the rents thereof for their benefit from my death and (?) the 640 to my son John Mc.
