Contributed by David Donahue ----------------------------------------------------------------------- AVERETT CEMETERY This cemetery is located south of Decaturville off Brooksie Road. The cemetery is indicated on the U.S.G.S. Scotts Hill Quaradngle (1986). It is reached by a mile-long trail through the woods, beginning behind a private house about a mile and a half south of the Brigance Cemetery. The trail to Averett Cemetery is clear and easy to follow, but the cemetery is overgrown. There are many more graves here than markers. David Donahue recorded this cemetery made December 26, 1992. An earlier record of this cemetery was made by Margarett Alexander and is dated November 1975. Her record appears in "Decatur County, Tennessee Cemetery Records" published by the Captain Nathaniel A. Wesson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Parsons, Tennessee, 1984, pp. 24-26. Reference is made to this work where appropriate. Averett, Anner, 8/11/1882-9/3/1883, "Dau. of John & Mary J.
