DECATUR COUNTY, TN - CEMETERIES - Brasher Cemetery ========================================================================= David Donahue, the creator of this file, declares it to be in the public domain. ========================================================================= BRASHER CEMETERY Decatur County, Tennessee The Brasher Cemetery is a very old cemetery near the Bath Springs community in the southern part of Decatur County. Brasher Cemetery is not indicated on the U.S.G.S. Bath Springs quadrangle (1972) but the access road is shown. [In 2001 the access road was signed as Brasher Cemetery Lane, off Brasher Cemetery Circle.] The access road is the east-west running gravel road shown south of Turnbo Creek and north of State Route 114. Brasher Cemetery is at the eastern end of this gravel road. The cemetery is kept mown and clear, even though it is now seldom used. The cemetery is full. There are many unmarked and fieldstone-marked graves. David Donahue recorded this cemetery December 26, 1992 and checked and updated it April 16, 2001. Between 1992 and 2001 the separately fenced Martin Family Cemetery was created adjoining the south side of the Brasher Cemetery. Brasher Cemetery was recorded by Blanche Tuten on February 28, 1976. Her record appears in Decatur County, Tennessee Cemetery Records published by the Captain Nathaniel A. Wesson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Parsons, Tennessee, 1984, pp. 73-78. Reference is made to this work where appropriate. Blanche Tuten noted "at lease 100 unmarked" graves.
