Duton Hill & wife to Alfred Brinkley
I Dutton Hill & Miriam Hill have this day bargained and Sold and do hereby
transfer and convey to Alfred Brinkley and his heirs forever for the
consideration of Eighty Dollars to me paid a tract of land in the State of
Tennessee Decatur County and District No. 12 Containing by estimation 
Sixteen and two thirds 16 2/3 acres be the Same more or less and bounded 
as follows:  Beginning on a Stake Runs as the North East corner of the 
Wade Hale tract of land Runs thence west 61 3/4 poles to a Stake thence 
South 4 2/3 poles to a Stake thence East 61 3/4 poles to a Stake thence 
North 43 1/3 poles to the Beginning:  Bounded on the North East to West 
by J.W. Harrington and on the South by Nancy P. Henson.  To have and to 
hold the same to Said Alfred Brinkley his heirs and assigns forever we do 
covenant with the Said Alfred Brinkley that we are lawfully Seized of Said 
land have a good Right to convey it and that the Same is unencumbered.  We 
do further covenant and bind our Selves and heirs title to the Said land 
and every part thereof to the Said Alfred Brinkley his heirs and assigns 
against the lawful claims of all persons Whatever this the 12th day of 
March 1877

State of Tennessee}  Personally appeared before me John McMillan Clerk of
Decatur County    }  the County Court of Said County Dutton Hill the
bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted who acknowledged that he
Executed the within deed for the purposes therein contained on the day it
bears date  Witness my hand at office this ... day of March 1877.

State of Tennessee} To G.W. Riggs a Justice of the Peace in and for said
county you are hereby authorized and empowered to take the examination 
of Miriam Hill privately and apart from her husband relative to her 
execution of the within Deed and the same so taken to Certify under your 
hand and Seal

State of Tennessee} Miriam Hill wife of Dutton Hill having personally
Decatur County    } appeared before me and having by virtue of the 
authority in me vested been examined privately and apart from her Said 
husband and She having acknowledged the Due Execution of the within deed 
freely voluntarily and understandingly without compultion or constraint 
by her Said husband and for the purposes therein expressed the Same is 
therefore certified    Witness my hand and Seal this the 13th day of March 1877

I Wm. Pratt Register for Said County do certify that the foregoing Deed 
and Certificate are Registered in Said office in Book No. 8 page 338,
