S.W. Riggs & wife Mary Riggs to W.D. Colwick
I S.W. Riggs have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and 
convey to W.D. Colwick and his heirs forever for the consideration of 
Four hundred Dollars to me in hand paid a tract of Land in the State of 
Tennessee Decatur County in district No. 12 Containing by estimation 100 
acres more or less and bounded as follows.  Beginning at the N.W. corner 
of J.T. Colwick land thence West   Poles to a Stake thence South    poles 
to my South West corner, thence East   Poles to the Creek of B F Cary line 
to his North West corner, thence West with Said J.T. Colwick South line to 
a Stake at the Creek, thence up the Creek with meanders of the same to J.T. 
Colwick South line, thence West   Poles South west corner of J.T. Colwick 
land, thence North 85 poles to the beginning  To have and to hold the same 
to the said W.D. Colwick his heirs and assigns forever I do covenant with 
the said W.D. Colwick that I am lawfully possessed of said land and have 
a good right to convey it and that the same is unemcumbered.  I do further 
Covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and 
forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the 
said W.D. Colwick his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all 
persons whatever.  Given under my hand and seal this 2nd day of Sept. 1887.

State of Tennessee} Personally appeared before me J.E. Dees Clerk of the
Decatur County    } County Court of said County S.W. Riggs the within 
named bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged 
that he executed the within deed for the purposes therein contained upon 
the day it bears date.  Witness my hand at Office this Sept. 5, 1887.

State of Tennessee} To W.G. Riggs Justice of the Peace for said County
Decatur County    } You are hereby authorized and impowered to take the 
examination of Mary J. Riggs privately and apart from her said husband
relative to her free execution of the within deed and the same so taken 
to Certify under your hand and Seal  Witness J.E. Dees Clerk of the County
Court at Office this Sept. the 5th 1887.

Decatur County    } Mary J. Riggs wife of S.W. Riggs having personally 
appeared before me and having by virtue of the authority in me vested 
been examined privately and apart from her said husband and she having 
acknowledged the due execution of the within deed by her freely voluntarily
and understandingly without compulsion or constraint of her said husband
and for the purposes therein contained on the day it bears date the same 
is therefore Certified This the 7th day of Sept. 1887
