He had been in poor health for five years, but was feeling as well as usual Monday, and had just returned from town when he dropped dead in the kitchen door. He was a son of John Pitts Beasley, being born at Warner Furnace, Hickman county, September 25, 1864. He was married to Miss Lois Brisentine July 5, 1886, & in this union eleven children were born; of which three are dead and eight living. "Chief" Beasley, as he was familiarly known by his many friends, was a good workman and was employed by the N.C. and St. L. Ry., for 32 years, and was liked by all who knew him, for a bigger hearted man never lived than Mike Beasley. Besides his wife and eight children, he is survived by two brothers, R. B Beasley of Bon Aqua and A. B Beasley of Arkansas, the former being present at the funeral, which was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the residence. He was a member of the Masonic Order by whom he was laid to rest in Union Cemetery.
