PENDLETON, died at the residence of Mrs. SALLIE MENZIES, at an early hour Sunday morning. Mrs. PENDELTON had been in apparent good health up to a few hours before her death, until she had an attack of heart failure. She was a member of the Baptist Church and lived close to God all her life. Immediately after her death, a wire message was sent her only son, ED PENDELTON, whose home is in Florida and he and his wife arrived last evening. She was 68 years of age, and is survived by her husband; son; and sister, Mrs. SALLIE MENZIES. Funeral services were conducted at the residence of Mrs. MENZIES, interment at the family burying ground in Hurricane Hill. SOUTH DYERSBURG--Mr. & Mrs. ELCO BAKER have the sympathy of the community in the Death of their infant daughter, which occurred Thursday afternoon. The little one was only fourteen days of age. SOUTH DYERSBURG--Miss CALLIE GRAMMER of Ripley, has returned to her home after a week's visit to her neice, Mrs. CORA CAMPBELL. DOC PLEASANT of Mo., is at the home of his daughter, Mrs. EUNICE GIBSON, quite sick. Mrs. SALLIE RAY, Misses ROSA RAY and CORA PLEASANT, of RoEllen, were visitors at the home of Mr. & Mrs. HENRY GIBSON last week. JAMES WILSON and Miss FLORENCE WILSON, of Crockett County, visited the family of Mr. & Mrs. EDGAR WHITE last week. Mr. & Mrs. THEERY HILL, of Rives, came recently for a visit to Rev. V. C. KINSIE's family. Mrs. V. C. KINSIE is convalescing from a severe attack of malaria. Mrs. COBURN of Friendship, has returned to her home after a month's stay with her daughter, Mrs. JAKE PARKER, who has been sick. Mr. & Mrs. C. B. BLANTON visited their daughter, Mrs. WILL LIVERGOOD at Menglewood. HENDERSON TODD, accompanied by his sister, Miss BERTHA, spent Easter Sunday with relatives in Memphis. BOGOTA--Mrs. WILKER MOORE and son, JAMES GORDON, are visiting relatives at Newbern at this writing. JAS. BARNES and wife spent Saturday and Sunday in Dyersburg, guests of J. L. MOORE and family. BOGOTA--MRS. CECIL PIERCE Died last Wednesday evening about 8 o'clock with that dreadful disease, consumption. She had been in bad health for nearly a year and confined to her bed three months. She leaves a husband ;father; six brothers; and friends to grieve her death. Her remains were laid to rest in the Bledsoe Cemetery. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--Mr. & Mrs. VOLLIE ALEXANDER and children left Tuesday for San Antonia, Texas, to visit. COKER GREAVES has resigned his position with Jacocks drug store and left this morning for Memphis. Mr. & Mrs. MAX WILLIS of Trenton were the guests Sunday of her sister, Mrs. W. O. SPEIGHT. Announcements were received here of the marriage of Miss MARY ELIZABETH BENRON and Mr. HENRY MIXER BRIGGS at Neosha, Mo. The bride is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. MARCENAS BENTON, the former having lived here. F. D. HOBB has sold a Buick touring car to HARRY CALCUTT. JOHN REED has sold a Chevolet touring car to SAM BLIVEN. Mrs. L. GOLDSMITH was here from Memphis to spend the week-end with Mrs. JIM WATSON. Mrs. ILA VOLTERMAN, of Woodville, spent the week-end here, the guest of Mrs. IVOR CHILDRESS. Little BURNIE D. YATES is suffering with a broken limb, he was hurt at school Wednesday of last week. Mrs. J. M. COLE and daughter, MARTHA, are spending two weeks in Memphis with the former's parents, Mr. & Mrs. CARTHEL. A daughter was Born Sunday morning to Mr. & Mrs. R. S. WATKINS. Mrs. D. HERBER JOHNSTON and children, of Memphis, came Saturday morning and spent two days with Mrs. S. N. SIDWAY and family. MRS. CLEO STRAYHORN--Died Monday at the Parker farm on the RoEllen Road, after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11:30, at Mount Pisgah by Revs. BANKS and MORRISON. She is survived by her husband and several children. MRS. MYRTLE WHITE--Died of peritonitis last Friday at Hosmer Hospital, Dyersburg. She was 18 years of age and a member of the Methodist Church. Her home was near Sorrell's Chapel and she is survived by one child. Interment Sunday at McCullough's Chapel, services by Rev. R. W. HOOD. J. H. THOMPSON--manager of Webb's Store at Hornbeak, Died at Hosmer Hospital, Dyersburg, Sunday afternoon of heart failure. Mr. THOMPSON was a member of The Methodist Church and prominent in his community. His remains were prepared for burial in the parlors of J. W. Curry & Son, and shipped to Obion Sunday night. Interment will be at Hornbeak to day. HELOISE--MILTON LINDSEY spent Sunday in Cooter, Mo. Miss SAMANTHA JORDON and Miss AGNES LINDSEY came from Cooter, Mo., last Tuesday to visit Miss LINDSEY's brother, MILTON LINDSEY. Dr. FREEMAN, CHARLES PATE, and JOHN GIBSON were in Dyersburg. Messrs. PATE and GIBSON purchased new buggies while there. Mr. & Mrs. JOHN GIBSON entertained Thursday night in honor of Misses JORDON and LINDSEY of Cooter, Mo. Music, cards and dancing were enjoyed until a late hour. Mrs. J. T. FREEMAN and Mrs. JOHN GIBSON went to Ayers Friday. Miss IDA McMACKIN came back with them to visit here. MIDDLE CITY--Miss NETTIE LOU V. BUNNELL was the guest of Mrs. LESSIE BYLER at Lenox last week. Mr. & MRS. W. A. PERCIFUL and Miss PEARLIE COFFMAN visited Mrs. JANNIE MAXVILLE near the Obion river Easter Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. W. L. JUSTIS were guests of her sister, Mrs. A. G. SPRAGGINS Easter. Mr. & Mrs. G. W. PATRICK near Maury City Saturday, April 22nd. Mrs. NINA HARRELSON, of Humboldt, is at her mother's, Mrs. NUNN, with quite a severe hurt on her arm, which she received Sunday, when she fell down the stairway at Mrs. SUDBURY's. MOUNT PISGAH--VERNON HOOD is visiting his cousin, PRESTLY SMITH this week. Mr. & Mrs. S. F. Mr. & Mrs. SAM WILLIAMS and baby spent the weekend at Dyersburg with her brother, BOB PATTERSON. Mr. ALLEN and GEORGE CRENSHAW, of Church Grove, visited their uncle, IRWIN CRENSHAW last Sunday. UNION GROVE--Miss MAUDE MIDGETT, of Kenton, visited her sister, Mrs. H. H. SCOTT recently. CHURCHTON--Mrs. WM. F. MOORE is confined to her room and is quite sick. Esq. A. A. KIRK and wife and Miss LURLINE TOWNS motored from Lenox recently and were guests of Mr. & Mrs. ROBERT TOWNS near Carmel. MRS. MARGARET McCORKLE--departed this life at Yorkville last Monday morning, age 83 years. The remains were brought to Churchton and interred in the McCorkle burying ground. Six children her. Lawyer D. E. McCORKLE, of Franklin, Tenn., was called to Churchton to attend the burial of his mother, Mrs. MARGARET McCORKLE. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--J. K. WHITE and family of Nauvoo, spent Sunday in Trimble guests of Mr. & Mrs. E. D. KELLY. Mr. & Mrs. SAM ZAHND, of Kansas City, are the guests of her sister, Mrs. D. A. GARDNER. Mrs. J. M. MORGAN has returned to Memphis after visiting her sister, Mrs. EVERETT JUSTIS. Miss LILLY WHITE and GUY DALTON were married Wednesday at the residence of R. F. C. MOSS, Mr. MOSS officiating. Miss CHAUNCEY MARKES, of Jackson, is the guest of her uncle, J. M. COLLINS. OSCAR ROBERTS of Arizona, is the guest of his aunt, Mrs. T. G. BRAWLEY. WALTER and WILLARD DRAPER spent the week-end in Covington, guests of their aunt, Mrs. ELMER NEVILS. Mrs. S. H. BASS and son, of Munford, are spending a week with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. C. B. THORNBURGH on Phillips street. MOUNT PISGAH--WILL H. KING, of Jackson, while passing through our vicinity last week enroute to Fowkles, he stopped and spent two nights with his brother, RUFE KING. Mrs. MARY WILLIAMSON and son, JOHN, and daughter, WILLIE, spent Sunday near Chestnut Bluff, guests of HENRY GREENE and family. BORN to Mr. & Mrs. STEVEN NASH, April 27th, a fine boy. Mrs. KATE TOWNSEND and daughter, Mrs. MATTIE SUE COBURN and little son, JAMES, of Crockett Mills, visited Mrs. ALTHA CHEATHAM recently. Mrs. RUSSELL CAMPBELL and children, of Beaver Pond, spent Saturday with her mother, Mrs. NANNIE WILLIAMSON. Mrs. LIZZIE WYRICK from across the creek is visiting her sister, Mrs. SALLIE WORRELL, at this writing. Little Miss ELLA MAI LEGGETT, and brother, C. W. LEGGETT, of Bonicord, spent the week-end here, the guest of their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. GEO. LEGGETT. AYERS--Mrs. ED SHELTON and little step-daughter, Martha, of Burgie's Chapel, spent Sunday night with Mrs. LELL BALLENTINE of this place. BERR WILHELM spent a few days last week with homefolks at Charleston, Mo. RONALD E. LITTLE spent a few days this week with his cousin, HOLLIS LITTLE, of Finley. The entire community was sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. MYRTLE WHITE at the Hosmer Hospital Saturday. ==================================================================== TUESDAY AFTERNOON MAY 9TH, 1916 FROG POND--Little Miss SUDIE MAE BALLENTINE was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. E. M. SHELTON last week. Mr. & Mrs. WILL McKNIGHT are the proud parents of a pretty girl baby, Born April 28th. She has been named Sarah Jane. SOUTH DYERSBURG--Mr. & Mrs. JASPER CHAMBERS visited their daughters, Mesdames McDEARMON and TODD at this place. Mrs. CARLYSLE of Memphis, came Monday evening, for a visit to her daughter, Mrs. W. O. CHRISTIE. UNIONVILLE--Little FLOSSIE LOUISE DANIELS has returned home after a lengthy stay at her sister's, Mrs. DELTA BAKER of RoEllen. S. N. MEADOWS and wife went to Dyersburg to see her brother, JOE CHAMBERS, who has undergone an operation and reported he is better. Mr. & Mrs. K. T. BURKS are the proud parents of a 13-pound boy. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--CARSON RIKE, of Pique, Ohio, is here visiting his uncle, H. B. RIKE. Mrs. A. P. BLACKWELL of Durant, Okla., is the guest of her brother, E. RICE and family. Dr. JOE ACY FOWKLES was called to Union City last week on account of the death of Dr. A. Y. WHITE. Little ACY HARDISON, the year and a half old son of Mr. & Mrs. ACY HARDISON, was poisoned yesterday when he ate some tonic tablets that he found in the house. His mother discovered the little fellow in convulsions and for awhile his life was dispaired of. antidotes were administered, he is recovering. DR. PATRICK URY WHITE--died at his home in Union City yesterday morning, May 4th, 1916, at 1 o'clock, of general decline, which has made him an invalid for several months. Dr. WHITE was born in Sumner Co., near Gallatin in 1837 and his age therefore on June next would be 79 years. He was a citizen of the county since the age of 5 years. In 1861 he volunteered in the Confederate Army, Company G, Sixth Texas Infantry, and was discharged on account of poor health. His health returning, he joined a Texas Legion of Cavalry. Dr. WHITE was drill master of his regiment. Dr. WHITE has been a druggist in Union City over forty years. He was married about fifty years ago to Mrs. HIBBITTS, widow of Capt. HIBBITT of the Confederate service, the latter having died years ago. The union of Dr. & Mrs. WHITE was blessed with three children, Mrs. C. M. BURCHARD being the only survivor. ==================================================================== FRIDAY AFTERNOON MAY 12TH, 1916 THIRTY-FOOT FALL FATAL TO CITY ELECTRICIAN--BURNIE REED, city electrician, fell from a pole in front of the Cumberland Presbuterian Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and died from his injuries at Hosmer Hospital a few hours laters. In falling his head hit the plank crossing near the post. He never regained consciousness and shortly after six o'clock. Mr. REED came here from Obion nine years ago, and has been connected with the electric light plant of the city ever since. He is survived by his wife; two children, WILSON and LOUISE REED; father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. JIM REED, of Obion; three brothers, COLLIE REED, of Obion, F. A. REED, of this city, and SPIRAL REED, of Newbern; two sisters, Effie REED, of Obion, and a married sister at Dequeen, Ark. Mr. REED was 40 years of age and was raised at Kenton, Tenn. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. BOGOTA--Mrs. MOLLIE CHAMBERS spent this week in Dyersburg with her mother, Mrs. V. C. BLEDSOE. CHARLEY GIFFORD is visiting homefolks. He enlisted in the Army four years ago and this is his first trip home. TRIMBLE--BORN to Mr. & Mrs. R. H. COLLINS on May 7th, a fine boy. Mr. & Mrs. ASA GRISSOM are the proud parents of a fine baby girl. BONICORD--News reached here Monday of the Death of TOMMIE STEPHENSON in El Paso, Texas. He is reported to have died with erysipelas. He was in the Navy, having joined a short time ago. The remains will be shipped here and interred in the Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery. FOWKLES--Mrs. ROY DAVIS, of Memphis, is guest of her sister, Mrs. GEO. VIAR this week. BORN, last week, to Mr. & Mrs. HOMER ROBERT, a fine son. Miss MAMIE PETTY, of Bells, spent last week with her aunt, Mrs. TOM BRAIDEN. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--Mrs. S. W. JOLLY of Birmingham, is here the guest of Mrs. J. L. DOYLE. Mrs. JOLLY, who was a sister of the late Col. JAS. RICHARDSON, of Alabama, was a school mate of Mrs. DOYLE. Mrs. C. R. HOTCHTIFF and Mrs. T. I. TAYLOR, of Jackson, will arrive Monday to visit Mrs. W. J. ARNOLD. They will be remembered as Misses SUE MATT and LUEL MERIWETHER. Mrs. SMITH of Memphis is here, guest of her brother, N. R. POSTON. Miss MARY VIRGINIA PARROTT came Thursday, May 11th, to brighten the home of Mr. & Mrs. BILL PARROTT. Mrs. CHAS. ACRE, of Heathman, Miss., spent a day here this week and was accompanied home by her mother, Mrs. B. C. BURGIE, who will make her a visit. FERGUSON--Miss FLORA MILSAP of South Dyersburg, spent last week with her cousin, Miss IRENE BURCHFIELD. MIDDLE CITY--Mrs. PEARLE COFFMAN and daughter, LALLTE RUTH, went to Dyersburg Tuesday to visit Mrs. THEO FRAZIER for the weekend. Mrs. DOCIE TODDY, of Memphis, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Fannie DODSON, this week. ==================================================================== TUESDAY AFTERNOON MAY 16TH, 1916 FOUR DROWNED IN REELFOOT LAKE--The victims were Mrs. H. F. KELLER, Mrs. FRANK J. BUNN, and L. S. HAZELGROVE, Jr., the little 22-months- old son of Mr. & Mrs. L. S. HAZELGROVE. They lost their lives in an accident that occurred at Samburg, and DON HAMILTON of that place went to the bottom of the Lake with them in an effort to save one of the party. About 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Mr. KELLER, Mr. BUNN, DON HAMILTON, and another man of a Samburg neighborhood started out on the lake in a motor boat. The women of the party and the child were placed in a skiff and towed on behind the motor boat as they started for a ride on the lake. In making a quick turn with the motor boat, the skiff was thrown against a snag which upset it, spilling the occupants to the water. Then followed the struggle for life. (very lengthly). DON HAMILTON's body was kept at Samurg until his people from Missouri could arrive. He was 24 years of age. Mrs. H. F. KELLER came with her husband from Memphis to Dyersburg four years ago. She is survived by her husband; two children, HERBERT and MEDA LYNN; father; mother; brother;and sister. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Funeral Services of little L. S. HAZELGROVE, Jr., were conducted this morning, interment at Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. FRANK BUNN is survived by her husband; two children, CHAS. and EVERETT; mother, Mrs. ALICE LOWERY. Before her marriage, Mrs. BUNN was Miss BESSIE LOWRY, raised in Memphis. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. JAMES LASSITER--and MISS VERNA FUMBANKS were married Saturday in Finley by Rev. WILKES. UNIONVILLE--Mrs. BYLER, of Edith, who has been staying with Mrs. B. F. RUCKER, has returned home. Mrs. S. N. MEADOWS and her daughter, VERA, went to Dyersburg to see her brother, Mr. CHAMBERS and reported he is sitting up. Mrs. I. C. PAGE will leave Sunday morning for her future home in Arkansas. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--DEWEY STEWART is visiting relatives and attending the Reunion in Birmingham. Mrs. CARL MOORE and daughter, NANCY, of Memphis, are guests of Mr. & Mrs. J. M. KILLEN. ALF SUGG a former resident of Dyersburg, now living in California, passed through Dyersburg last night en route to Memphis. Mr. & Mrs. A. G. FERGUSON and child, formerly of Dyersburg, Tenn., now of Sioux City, Ia., are visiting their sister, Mrs. WIRT J. WILLS. Commercial Appeal. Dr. C. A. TURNER and family motored to Henning Sunday. A son was Born to Mr. & Mrs. MARSHALL PIERCE Monday morning. Miss JENNIE MAY FERRELL, of Friendship, has come to make her home with Mrs. ERNEST BEAVER. Mr. MULHOLLAND, father of Mrs. KELLER, Mrs. THOMAS, a sister, and Miss CRENSHAW, a cousin, are here from Memphis to attend the Funeral of Mrs. KELLER. The barn of HILEY LUCAS was destroyed by fire Friday night, loss of stock, hay, feed stuff, farm tools, harnesses, etc. GEORGE DODSON was Shot Saturday night by a man named LEE, the shooting occurring near Unionville. The shot entered DODSON's thigh and inflicted a painful, but not dangerous wound. LEE made his escape. A. M. STEVENS is here from Huffman, Ark., for a few days. Mr. & Mrs. WILL BERKLEY and son, JOHN JAMES, were in Memphis Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. OSCAR HAMILTON and daughter, GERALDINE, spent Sunday in Chestnut Bluff. Rev. WILBUR HAMILTON, of Halls, was the guest of his mother, Mrs. A. E. HAMILTON Sunday. Mrs. WALTER BYRNS, of Jackson, Miss., is the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. G. MEADOWS. Mrs. G. L. SEAT, of Newbern, and Misses NAOMI and RUTH HARWOOD, of this city, attended the Funeral of the latters' aunt, Mrs. J. R. DANCE at Trenton, Friday. LENOX--BORN to Mr. & Mrs. SOL BURROW, a little son on last Thursday. Mr. & Mrs. R. S. TALBOT are rejoicing over the Arrival of a little black-eyed girl at their home. Mrs. MARTHA STUDARD, who has been at Alamo visiting her son, ERNEST STUDARD, retured home Sunday. ==================================================================== FRIDAY AFTERNOON MAY 19TH, 1916 WILLIAM HOLDEN--and BUD DANIEL were thrown from their buggy Wednesday when their horse became frightened at a passing automobile. Mr. HOLDEN sustained a broken leg, Mr. DANIEL escaping unhurt. The accident happened just south of the slough bridge, the buggy with its occupants going over the embankment. BOOTH'S POINT--PAULINE PEERY spent a few days this week with her sister, Mrs. CARL H. HUBBS of Ayers. ROY DANIELS, of Menglewood, is spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. PATE. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--Mrs. CRENSHAW and J. D. THOMAS returned to Memphis Tuesday evening after attending the Funeral of Mrs. H. F. KELLER. The EZRA HICKS car turned over on the Finley road east of Finley yesterday. Mr. HICKS and E. E. RAWLES who were in the car escaped unhurt. The car was slightly damaged. CROSS ROADS--Mrs. LATHAM from Friendship, spent Saturday and Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. R. J. STALLCUPP. Twin babies came to the home of Mr. & Mrs. CLAUDE TRAMEL on May 4th. Miss BESSIE DUNIVANT and EARL DAVIS ran away from the berry patch last Thursday and went to Halls in a car and were united in the Holy bonds of Matrimony. BUD LOVE and family, of near Halls were guests Sunday, of HUBBARD DAVIS and family. Our community was greatly shocked and grieved to hear of the sudden accident that happened to our former school teacher, Miss BLANCHE JONES, as she was stepping from a moving train. Her limbs were both caught under the train and crushed. It is not expected that she will recover. Mr. & Mrs. HOWARD GOURLEY visited THOMAS HOLLY recently at Samaria. Mrs. DAVID JONES of Friendship, is visiting her parents, Mr. & Mrs. F. B. OLDS. Miss McMASTER and Mr. & Mrs. J. D. THOMAS will leave Sunday for their homes in Memphis, after coming to attend the funeral of Mrs. H. F. KELLER. REHOBOTH--PLEASANT SMITH, of Memphis, was the guest of his sister, Mrs. R. L. TUCKER last Sunday. Last Sunday Mr. & Mrs. C. C. CHITWOOD had as their guests, Mr. & Mrs. R. P. HARRINGTON, Mr. & Mrs. GEORGE ROGERS, and Mr. & Mrs. ALBERT HARRINGTON. Mrs. DON PIERCE of Neboville spent last week with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. BURT MILAM. TRIMBLE--Mr. & Mrs. J. W. WATSON and Mrs. EMMA WOLF of Dyersburg came Sunday. Mrs. WOLF remained over, the guest of Mrs. E. A. WAGNER. HERALD CITY--BORN to Mr. & Mrs. HENRY DALTON, May 11th, twin boys. BOGOTA--Mrs. OLLIE STRACHN and children visited her sister, Mrs. LEN BETHEL in Dyersburg last week. EDGEWOOD--Mrs. JESSIE MOSS of Blue Grass, was the guest of her mother, Mrs. R. C. HULMN recently. MENGLEWOOD--Mrs. LIT STONE, who has been here on a visit to her mother, Mrs. JOHN BEECH, returned to her home in Mississippi last week. Mrs. WILL KOVAS has as her guest, Miss Estell REED, her cousin, of Sikeston, Mo. JOE R. BAKER--one of the oldest business men in Dyersburg, Died at his home on Sampson Ave., Friday evening, after a short illness. Mr. BAKER was born in Robertson County 74 years ago, came to Dyer in 1849. He was engaged in the mercantile business of Baker Bros., & Watkins, he, his brother, JIM, and BAT WATKINS. In 1897, he was married to Miss MARY SUGG. She only lived eight years after their marriage. One son, JOE, Jr., survives this union. He is survived by his son; five brothers, JIM BAKER, E. H. BAKER, and CALVIN BAKER, of this city, and FRANK BAKER and HAMP BAKER, of Tx. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. CHURCHTON--The Yorkville flour mill and saw mill was completely destroyed by fire at a late hour Friday night. The plant was the property of ELLIE TROUT. ANDERSON McCORKLR, an aged resident and a brother of our fellow citizen, Squire JOHN E. McCORKLE, attended the reunion at Birmingham last week. WALTER GRILLS of Dyersburg, was the guest of his sister, Mrs. ROBERT TOWNS near Carmel Church recently. BOGOTA--FRANKIE WILSON from Prospect, is visiting in Bogota this week, guest of her grandmother, Mrs. CHAMBERS. Mrs. POTTER and Mrs. ALEXANDER from Tiptonville, visited here last week with their father, Mr. GREGORY and family. CLARENCE DRAKE, wife and little son from Ark., are here on a visit to his father, S. O. DRAKE and family. It seems that S. O. DRAKE and Capt. BATES had a collision with their cars one day last week, by running together, but they soon got them in running order again. He lived in the county all his life and was a large land owner on the Mississippi River. He is survived by his wife; four sons, THOMAS LEDBETTER, JOHN ALDEN LEDBETTER, CLARENDON LEDBETTER, and CLIFTON LEDBETTER; two daughters, Mrs. O. E. RAWLINSON, of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. F. C. FRIENDSHIP, TENN., MAY 28TH--With one nail left to be driven, ED (DAD) STEPHENSON, well-known contractor and buildre, fell from a scafford, a distance of twenty feet, while working on the residence of W. H. JONES, just out of town. His hip was fractured and leg broken at the ankle and knee; also three ribs were broken. Mr. STEPHENSON is 58 years of age, and has no family. If he recovers, he will be a cripple. LOCAL AND PERSONAL--Rev. H. B. JOHNSTON, of Brownsville, is visiting his daughter, Mrs. HAMNER SCOTT. HORSFEL, of Spokane, Wash., who are making a two months' tour of the South and East, are visiting the former's sisters, Mrs. H. R. MERIWETHER and Mrs. W. T. WALKER. WILLIAM ODEL GRILLS--died at St. Joseph Hospital Sunday morning, aged 20 years. His remains were sent to Trimble for interment. He was a brother of Mrs. JOHN KLYCE, of Bonicord, and Miss ORA GRILLS, of Trimble.
