From the Somerville Reporter,  Saturday,  May 16,  1840:

"MARRIED - In this county on Wednesday the 13th inst. by the Rev. Wm. Wamble,
Mr.  Needham HORTON aged 52 years,  to Miss Mary FOLWELL,  aged 51 years.  We
cannot but acknowledge the receipt of a fine slice of the Bride's cake.  The
happy couple have our bestwishes for a long and prosperous union."


"DIED - at the residence of Henry F. (?) DILLIARD,  in this county,  on the
7th inst.,  Miss Martha B.  DILLIARD,  aged 23,  late of North Carolina,  and
daughter of --(illegible)--am DILLIARD,  decd. of Orange Co.,  NC."

From the Somerville Reporter,  Saturday,  February 12,  1842:

"DIED - IN Shelby County at his plantation 4 miles east of Raleigh,  on the
26th ult.,  Major Joseph COTTON,  aged 50 years."
