Gustavus Watts ALLEN was born December 02, 1840 in Moscow, Fayette County, Tennessee; son of Edmund Lilly ALLEN an Rebecca Magdalene SMITH; married Mary Virginia DOWDY; died March 01, 1901. Served in 13th TN Infantry, Co D, CSA as a corporal. ******************************************************** "G. W. (Gus) Allen, aged 60, died Friday morning in this city of pneumonia. The deceased was a gallant ex-Confederate, having fought at Shiloh and other notable battles. He was a native of Tennessee but for the past fourteen years has lived in and around McKinney where he was held in high esteem. His remains were laid to rest Saturday in Pecan Grove Cemetery. Several grown children survive."
