His wife's first name is unknown, but she was the daughter of Jeremiah Smith Jr. and Mildred Robertson (dtr. of Drury Robertson). ALLEN, FAYETTE CO, TN, Will, 1858 I, Thomas Allen, do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon as possible after death as possible out of moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executor. Secondly, I give and bequeath my son, Edmund L. Allen, the negro boy John, negro woman Edy, negro boy Henry, negro girl Molly, negro girl Sophia and negro man Mat. Thirdly, I will and bequeath to my daughter Mildred's children, Martha Ann Yancy, Bartlett Yancy, Elizabeth Yancy, Mary May Yancy and Lesia B. Yancy the negro boy Lince. Fourthly, I will and bequeath that my land and all personal property of every kind be sold on a six months credit and the proceeds applied to payment of my debts and should there be an overplus after paying all my debts it is to go to my son, Jeremiah Allen. Further, I make no specific bequest to him. Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Edmund L. Allen my Executor. In witness thereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this 22nd day of January, 1858.
