Emmerson This indenture made this 5th day of February, 1817, between Thomas EMMERSON of the county of Franklin and State of Tennessee of one part and James EMMERSON of the county and state before mentioned of the other part, witnesseth that the said Thomas EMMERSON, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by said James EMMERSON, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, released, and confirmed unto said James EMMERSON, his heirs or assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Franklin aforesaid on the waters of Boiling Fork of Elk River containing one hundred acres, bounded as follows; beginning at a Spanish Oak, runs thence North five, West twenty-nine poles to a stake; thence South eighty-seven, West six eight poles to a Black Gum Persimmon on the branch of Dry Creek; thence up said creek with the meanders South forty-four, West thirty- two poles to a forked Iron Wood; thence South ninety-six poles to a stake eight pointers the South East corner of McDANEL's tract; thence East John FARRIS line and passing his north corner, in all, one hundred and sixty-one and one half poles to a stake; then [sic] North eighty-four poles to a stake; thence West to the beginning; is being part of a tract of land granted to Absolum TATUM; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him, the said James EMMERSON, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Thomas EMMERSON for himself, his heirs, the tract of land aforesaid unto him, the said James EMMERSON, his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these present in witness, whereof the said Thomas EMMERSON hath therunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written, signed, sealed, and delivered in presence of Mathew ROBERTSON Mathew ROBERTSON Thomas EMMERSON (seal) State of Tennessee Franklin County April Term 1817 Then the within deed of conveyance from Thomas EMMERSON to James EMMERSON for one hundred acres of land was duly acknowledged in open court and ordered to be registered, let it be registered. And the witnesses are two Mathew Robertsons.
