All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jessie Emerson subseti@hotmail.com November 29, 2005, 8:40 pm Written: November 15, 1814 Recorded: April This indenture made this 15th day of November, 1814, between Abner TATUM of Madison County, Mississippi Territory, of the one part and Thomas EMMERSON of the County of Franklin and State of Tennessee of the other part; witnesseth that the said Abner TATUM , and for and in consideration of two hundred and sixty two dollars to him in hand paid by said Thomas EMMERSON the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, released, and confirmed unto the said Thomas EMMERSON, his heirs or ensigns, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Franklin aforesaid on the waters of the Boiling Fork of Elk River containing by estimation two hundred and sixty-two acres bounded as follows; Beginning at a stake Daniel HARRISON's corner in DAVIDSON's line runing [sic] South with HARRISON's line one hundred and seventy-two poles to a Spanish Oak in the creek; thence East twenty-four poles to a stake; thence South eighty-six poles to a Black Oak in ACKLIN's line; thence with ACKLIN's line East passing his corner same course two hundred and eighty-two poles to a stake in the Eastern boundary line; thence North with said line to DAVIDSON's corner, White Oak and two Black Oaks pointers; thence West with said line and with ROBINSON line two hundred and fifty-four poles to ROBINSON corner; thence North with his line one hundred and forty-five poles to a stake in DAVIDSON's line; thence West with his line to the beginning; it being a part of a tract of two thousand acres granted to Absolum TATUM. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him, the said Thomas EMMERSON, his heirs or assigns forever, and the said Abner TATUM for himself and his heirs the tract of land aforesaid to him the said Thomas EMMERSON, his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these present in witness; whereof the said Abner TATUM hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written signed dated and delivered in presence of A. TATUM (seal) State of Tennessee Franklin County April Term Then the within deed of conveyance from Abner TATUM to Thomas EMMERSON for two hundred and sixty-two acres was duly proven in open court by the oath of George EMMERSON, a subscribing witness thereto, and also proved by him that Ambrose BARKER, the other subscribing witness, is dead; and ordered to be registered, let it be registered.
