He was born about 1760 in Maryland. While living in Lincoln County, N. C., he volunteered in Capt George Smith's company, Colonel George Dixon's regiment. Later he served in Captain William Naile's company, Colonel Charles McDowell's North Carolina regiment. He moved from North Carolina in 1795 going to Warren County, Kentucky, then to Franklin County, Tenn., thence back to Kentucky, thence to Missouri and from there to Alabama where he resided for two years. He then returned to Franklin County Tennessee, where he remained until his death, November 2, 1839. He married in 1783 or 1784 in Lincoln County, N. C., Nancy Pack. She survived her husband and applied for pension while she was living in Grundy County, formerly a part of Franklin County. She was born about 1762 and died March 10, 1854. They had children, among them: William, born 1786. died by 1851; Johnson, who lived in Madison County, Alabama, in 1846, Susannah, born 1789 who married _____ Sartan; Elijah, born 1794, lived in Grundy County in 1852. In 1832 Richard Harrison, brother of Thomas Harrison, made affidavit in Franklin County, Tenn., that he served with his brother in one of his tours.
