(Joseph, Mary, Helena and Louisa) have all had a pretty good share of negroes and money, I now give and bequeath to my son Joseph and his chil-dren, Peter. To my daughter, Mary E. Dardis I give and bequeath little Sette and her family, Alla and her family and big John. To my son, Isaac Gray, I give and bequeath Bartles and his family, Fielding and his family, Minerva and her family, George, Anderson, Edwin,Dudley, Sumas and Artilla. To my daughter, Helena Matlock, I give and bequeath Willis. To my daughter, Louisa Phillips and her children. I give and bequeath Lewis to be hired out to educate her children as Phillips has become dissipated. To my son George Lafayette Gray, I give and bequeath, Dick and his family, Little Jim and his family, John his family, and Mary. And to my afficted grandson George Dardis, I give and bequeath Nelly and Stephen. To my grandson George Gray Matlock, I (P-391) give and bequeath Nancy. Now my old Servants, Labon and Wife, Aran and wife, York and Esther are not to be taken from their homes. I give and bequeath them to my son Isaac Gray. To my son Joseph Gray and his children I give and bequeath my ARKANSAS lands entire, also my tract of land on Big Creek in Shelby County Tennessee containing - Acres. To my daughter Mary E. Dardis and her son James Daris, I give and bequeath my undivided interest in a Two Thousand acre tract of land granted to Richard Sharp and myself. To my son Isaac Gray, I give and bequeath the tract of land on which I now live containing about fifteen or sixteen hundred acres together with all thereunto belonging or appertaining also my Two Thousand acre tract of mountain land including my stock farm together with my whole mountain lands left in Winchester. To my daughter, Louisa Phillips and her children I give and bequeath the tract of land on which she now lives in Tipton County containing about six hundred acres. To my son George Lafayette Grey (sic) I give and bequeath the Glenco Tract of land containing between three and four hundred acres, also the tract of land joining Syler on Bean’s Creek, and the land joining Vanzant and my undivided interest in the partnership lands on Cave Hollow, also one thou-sand acres including the Larranct pond called the Paddy Smith tract and the big pond tract of land containing two hundred and twelve acres. To my son Isaac Gray and son-in-law William T. Dardis I giv~e and bequeath my Huricum tract of land and.... To Doctor Roe and wife, the place on which they now live, as long as they live. .. —32— (~OR~ GRAY’S WILL (Con’t page 2) And to Jesse T. Wallis, one hundred dollars to be handed by Isaac Gray to Col. Finch, as said Wallis needs it. And lastly I appoint my son Isaac Gray my sole Executor, to this my last WILL and Testament, without giving any security, and as I cannot undertake to divide my stock horses, cattle, and other effects, I wish my Executor to make sale, at convient times and distribute the proceeds without any regard to what has heretofore been distributed. Danson I, George Gray, make this addition or cody sill to this my last WILL and Tastament. I give to my son Isaac Gray all my interest which is half of the cotton now at the gin house, the other half being his on original contract because he has stayed with me and waited on me in my afflictions and attended to my other business. I also want Isaac Gray to see that George Dardis, my grandson (P-392) gets an education. I also want Isaac to pay for the schooling of Louisa Pillips’children when cald on or until he gets tired of it. This 24th day of January 1857. Given under my hand and seal. Denson April 22nd 1859 I now make a further addition to this my last WILL, that is my son Isaac Gray has always stayed with me and attended to all my business faithfully and to me in all my afflictions.
