Halford, 1861. J.W. Halford [ ] Deed Charles Carroll Registered Sept 6, 186[5], State of Tennessee, Gibson County. I Joseph W. Halford have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Charles Carroll and his heirs forever for and in consideration of [left blank] dollars to me paid a tract or parcel of land in the County of Gibson and State of Tennessee Civil District No 10 of said county and bounded as follows to wit said Carroll and Halford bought a tract of land of about 100 acres at the County Court Clerks sale in the case wherein said Carroll and others were petitioners and [ ? ] M. Halford and others were defendants and have divided the same between us and Halford now conveys to Carroll fifty one acres and 106 poles off of the east end to a line run and marked between us by [James N. ? ] Grier. To have and to hold the same to him the said Carroll his heirs and assigns forever. Its covenant with the said Carroll to warrant and forever defend the title to said land against the lawful claims of all persons whatever this 1st day of April 1861. J. W.
