Carroll, Final Decree Be it remembered that on this day came on this cause for further hearing before the wonderful county court of Gibson County upon report of the clerk and master which report is unexcepted to [ ] in all things confirmed when it appeared from said report that the clerk and master on the 9th day of November 1867 at the town of Rutherford Station at public auction after advertising [ ] according to law, sold said land described in the proceedings to Mr. Mary C. McCreary (?) she being the highest bidder at $21 per acre amounting to twenty one hundred and eighty four dollars on terms as follows, one third due 25th day of December 1867, one third twelve months from the date of sale, one third twenty four months from same date, and that he took her several notes jointly and severally with J.G. McCreary, T.D. Locke and J.H. Terry [ ] the pay amount of the purchase money (???). It is therefore ordered, and decreed that Elizabeth, Charles, W.J. and J.R. Carroll, E.J. Flemming and Mary E. Carroll have [ ] to the following described tract of land (to wit:) Lying and being in Gibson County Tennessee bounded as follows: Beginning at a poplar on Blunk’s (?) Line running north with his said line 117 poles to a small black oak. [ ] one pole; thence west 150 poles to a large black oak with hickory dogwood and elm [ ] thence south 111 poles to a stake on the Kannadays line with three oak trees thence east 150 poles to the beginning (??) Containing by estimation 10 x acres (?), [ ] the said Mary C. McCreary her heirs and assigns for ever a lein being [ ] on said land [ ] the purchase money is paid. It is further ordered by the court that the clerk and master seek proof to ascertain what would be a fair and reasonable amount to allow said widow Elizabeth Carroll as her dower interest in said land of the said J.W.
