Gibson County Court Minutes, November Term, 1884, pp 203-205 Peter Hunter Carroll was the administrator of Charles Carroll’s estate. This is the court record where P.H. Carroll sold the assets of Charles Carroll. At the time of Charles’ death, Emma O’Daniel Carroll, his wife, was alive but insane, according to the 1880 Census. In the May 1885 Term of the Gibson County Court, records show that a certain portion of Charles’ assets were set aside to provide for Emma for one year. (Item #013) It appears that all his assets sold totaled $458.17. It’s interesting to note the prices of things and who bought them (in the Carroll family): P.H. Carroll one grubbing hoe $.35 Robt. Carroll one “V” harrow $.80 P.H. Carroll one turning plow $3.40 Robt Carroll another plow of some kind $1.70 J.R. Carroll ?? $6.25 J.R. Carroll ?? $8.00 a mare brought $30.25 a filly brought $113.00 Someone named “Bob Carroll” bought a feather bed for $5. This might be the Robt Carroll, appearing elsewhere. Chas had a son named Robert who was epileptic. He was a half brother to Peter Hunter Carroll. J. F. Carroll (Joe Forest?) One bed stead $1.80 Robert and Peter Hunter seem to have bought the most stuff. To the worshipful County Court of Gibson County, to wit: The undersigned as Admin of Chas Carroll, decs, would respectfully report that he has collected and sold assets of said estate as shown as per the account of sales to the [ ? ] of see above. I also sold cotton, wheat, and corn not reported a/c or sales and one judgment collected on A. [Henelson ?] $31 and cash on hand $52.50 and 5 apple [trees?], 15 bushels of cotton seed and 8½ bushels wheat and one hog, in all amounting to [left blank]. The above is all that has come into my hands as such Admin or that should have come into my hands as such Admin. Sworn & subscribed before me Oct 4, 1884, J.T. Warren, D.C. Signed P.H. Carroll.
