Deed Book L, p525 & 526 M M Houston to Deed William Penny Registered Feby 23rd
1848

This indenture made and entered into this 18th day of February 1848 between
Mather M Houston of the one part and William Penny of the other part all of
the county of Gibson & State of Tennessee, witneseth that for & in
consideration of the sum of One Hundred Dollars & 75 cents to him in hand
paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said M M Houston has
given granted bargained & sold & by these presents do grant bargain & sell
unto the said Wm Penny his heirs & assigns forever the following described
tract of land lying & being in the County of Gibson & State of Tennessee
containing twenty five acres & thirty poles, Beginning at the South East
Corner of a Thousand acre tract in the name of Joseph McMeans, Thence running
West 42 poles to Pennys line Thence South 96 poles with Said Pennys line to a
Stake & pointers, Thence East 42 poles to a Stake & pointers On the bank of
Cove Crake & to where it strikes the Eastern boundary line of the Tract of
Land on which the S! aid Houston now resides. Thence North with Said line 96
poles to the Beginning corner, being 25 acres & 30 poles off the north end of
the tract of Land on which the Said Houston now lives, & formerly owned by
Walker Taliaferro. To have and to hold the above described tract of Land the
rights & profits of him the said Wm Penny his Heirs & assigns forwver and the
Mather M Houston for himself his Heirs administrators & Executors hereby
covenanting to & with the Said Wm Penny his heirs or assigns & from all &
every other person or persons whatsoever, In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand & affixed my seal this day & date above written M M Houston (Seal)
