Lyon) to her brother Amos Poe. The Lyon farm was just southeast of Medina, Tenn. into Madison County. Their children men-tioned in the letter are Willie age 11, Ernest age 7, Hubert age 5 and Oscar age 8 months. Medina Tenn. Nov.7th 1892 Mr. Amos Poe My Dear Brother I recieved your card a few minutes ago and hasten to answer it. We are all well, and doing as well as we can in such hard times Money is the scarcist article on our list. We made a good corn and potato crop potatoes of both kinds and peas, but our fruit failed us entirely hardly enough for family use. I can not imagine what you are doing in Nashville so be sure and tell me in your next letter and how long you will remain there health is tolerable good about here You asked me about Minnie Bevill I will tell you all I know Her papa live one mile below Humboldt. Her moma died the 4th of July. I hope you do not mean anything serious for Jerome Bevill, her popa is one of the"Greatest Scoundrels unhung" I answered all the letters I ever got from you except one I got since you have been in Nashville. I just neg-lected it. Your picture I got last spring favors you some to me - all the girls have fell in love with it. I have become quite popular on account of having a handsome young brother. Willie says tell you that him and Ernest have the prettiest yoke of oxen you ever saw. Our old cow had twins last May. Thier papa told them they could have them for oxen and they have them broke now to mind any- thing. but of course are too young to do any work. I am very busy now. Mr. Lyon says ask you what you have done with your Claypool Gal you used to talk so much about when you was little. Ernest, Hubert and Oscar are asleep , I wish you could see my boys they are all fine healthy children my baby is the fattest one I ever had he is eight month old weighs 20 lbs. Tomorrow is Presidential Election I hope the man who will do the most good will be elec- ted no matter which side. are you in favor of Republican or Democrat, Charlie Baker married a Miss Lessenberry last winter and went to Texas. but came back last week. Docia is still taking on about you. Johnie is a very good boy and smarter than any of the rest. but Docia passed here yesterday with an old grass widower leading her by the hand his name is John Lennings. Have you ever been to the State House? I have been in the State House there and saw where Pres-ident James K. Polk's widow lives I wanted to go to the Penitentiary but did not have time. I also went to the union cemetery between Nashville and Murfreesboro it is very interesting also the Vanderbilt University. Mr. Lyon says tell you he thinks he has got four of the prettiest boys you ever saw together. Well I believe I have told you all I can think of and it is bedtime I got a letter from Addie last week. Mr. L is still in the Butcher Business. I want you to write soon as you get this. I wish you would come to see us. looks like you go most every where else. I love you just as good as I ever did when I was with you next to my hus-band and children and I want you to love me.
