H. Lawrence, who died at his home near Trenton, Tenn., March 7th, 1902, was born in Carolina [Caroline] County, Virginia, March 18th, 1818. He moved to Rutherford County, Tenn., when but a boy. He was married to Miss Nancy Rodgers in 1841, with whom he lived happily for 61 years. They were blessed with ten children, five of whom have passed away, and gone home "to rest under the shade of the trees." They moved to Gibson County, Tenn., in 1854, where he lived until his death. He professed religion and joined the Methodist church at an early age. He loved the church, for her his tears fell and his prayers ascended; he gave his cares and toils to her till toils and cares all ended. The funeral services were held at his home, on account of the extreme feebleness of his aged wife and he was buried at Olive Branch, on Saturday, March 8th, 1902, there to await the resurrection of the just. His mind became impaired and he forgot everything else, but he never forgot to say his prayers. His wife is left in great feebleness of body and ripe for heaven.
