Scruggs ********************************************************************************* Services for Annie Ball Scruggs, 80, wife of Coleman Nichols (Nick) Scruggs for 61 years, will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Humboldt on Wednesday, August 21, 2002. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Scruggs died on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Scruggs was born October 8, 1921, in Brazil, Tn., the daughter of the late Samuel Garland Ball and Mary Eunice Ball. She had made her home in Humboldt since 1945. She graduated from Brazil High School and attended Northwestern State College in Alva, Okla., and the Humboldt Conservatory of Music. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for several years. She was a member of The United Methodist Women, a Honorary member of the Humboldt Music Club, and a charter member of the Humboldt Jaycettes. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Cecil, Leroy and Ernest Ball. She is survived by her husband, a son, John A. Scruggs of Humboldt, a daughter, Nickie Scruggs Bradford of Franklin, Tn., five grandchildren: William ( Bill ) Tate and wife Traci of Humboldt, Tracy Scruggs Blankenship and husband Doug of Beech Bluff, Tn., Robert E. Scruggs and wife Linda of Wantagh, NY, Jenny DeRee Scruggs of Cincinnati, Ohio, and John L. Scruggs of Clarksville, Tn.. She also leaves two greatgrandchildren, Cody Blankenship of Beech Bluff, Tn. and Mary Nichole Tate of Humboldt, Tn. The family will have visitation at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 20, 2002, from 5 to 9 PM.
