To deed 137 Acres

James Vance



Eighteenth day of January One Thousand Eight hundred and thiry eight between

Thomas Bottom of the State of Tennessee and County of Lincoln of he one part and

James Vance of the County of Giles an State aforesaid of the other part

Witnesseth that the said Thomas Bottom in hand paid at and before the signing

have give granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth unto  the said

James Vance his heirs and assigns forever, the two following pieces or parcels

of land situated lying and being in the said County of Lincoln on the waters of

Kelly Creek or south branch of Elk River Beginning at a dogwood and Bofelder? on

the East boundary line of a two hundred acre survey in the name of James

Grantee?, thence East Sixty seven and a half poles to a blackoak and back in the

south boundary line of a two hundred acre Survey in the name of Solomon Burford 

thence north one hundred and thirty five poles to the north boundary line of

said two hundred acre tract and the south boundary line of a ninety five acre

tract making in all one hundred and Seventy four poles, thence west a line of a

five thousand acre tract in the name of the said Solomon Burford thence west

with a line of the same Seven poles to the north west corner of said two hundred

acre survey,  thence south one hundred and thirty five poles to the beginning,

Containing Seventy one and a half acres by the same more or less, the second

piece of parcel of land adjoining the aforesaid Seventy one and half acres tract

on the west --and Beginning at a white oak and blackoak thence west with the

true meridian to a white oak and dogwood, thence, south to an ash and dogwood,

thence East to a Buck Davis Moores  -- and in all one hundred and twenty seven

and a half acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the two aforesaid

tract of land and bargains, ??? with all and singular the rights profits  _ and

enolments interest and affurtenances(?) and to the same belonging or on any wise

appertaining to the said James Vance his heirs and assignees forever, And the

said Thomas Bottoms for himself and heirs Executors and adinistrators doth

covenant to and agree with this a foresaid James Vance his heirs and assignees

that the two before cited tracts or parcels of land that he will forever,

warrnat and defend from the right title claim or demand of all persons

whatsever, either the Same or Equity, In testimony whereof the said Thoms Bottom

doth hereunto, set his hand and affix his seal the day and date above written
