Sept 2, 1780 in SC ============================================================================= John Vance Deed to Willie Garrett 15 acres One thousand eight hundred and seventeen between John Vance of the county of Giles and State Tennessee of the one part and Willie Garrett of Lincoln County and state aforesaid, of the other part Witnesseth that the said Vance for and in consideration of the sum of forty five dollars to him in hand paid by the said Garrett hath bargained sold and conveyed to the W. Garrett a certain tract or parcel of land in our said county of Lincoln containing fifteen acres grant bearing date the twenty third day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred and FIfteen bounded as flows on the head waters of Sinking Creek a South branch of Elk River beginning at a hickory the north east corner of a fifty acre tract in the name of said Vance thence east forty four poles to a red oak and hickory thence south fifty four and a half poles to a post oak and small hickory thence west forty four poles to a stake in the East Boundary line of said fifty acres survey thence North with his line fifty four and half poles to the Beginning With all and singular the woods, water, water courier profits commactition(?) hereditainments (?) to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder & or remainders rents and ____ thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim & domain of him the said Vance of in a to the same and every part and parcel thereof either in law or equity. To have and to hold the said fifteen acres of land with the appurtenances to this said Willie Garrett his heirs and assignees forever against the lawful title claim and demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Vance hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Acknowledged in presents of Benjamin Murl (?) This indenture of bargain and sale between John Vance of the one part Wiley Garrett of the other part was proven in open court by the oaths of Benjamin Merrill & James Craig tho subscribing witnessess thereto and ordered to be certified in Testimony whereof I, Brice ___ Garner clerk of the court aforesaid have hereinto sit my hand and affixed the seal of said court of office in Fayetteville this the 5th day of May 1817.
