His name is on the 1832 list and in the 1840 Census. He was born about 1759 in Brunswick County, Virginia, and enlisted in Virginia troops. He served in the battles of Savannah and Charleston and was wounded and captured in the battle of Charleston. From about the year 1840 he made his home with his son-in-law, Thomas A. Westmoreland. Note: He died in Giles County in 1853. He married Frances Brown. Among their children were Susan, who married Philip Pipkin; and Elizabeth, who married Thomas A. Westmoreland.
