Produced a commission from under the hand of his Excellency John Sevier, appointing them Justices of the Peace for said County and took an oath to support the Constitution of the United States of America, The Constitution of the State of Tennessee and the Oath of Office, and proceeded to chose a clerk and other officers of the court agreeable to law. Ambrose Yancey was duly elected Clerk who was qualified and gave bond according to law Martin Ashburn was elected to office of Sheriff who was qualified and gave bond according to law Felps Reed Esgr was elected Register for this county who was qualified and gave bond according to law John Estes Esqr was elected Ranger for this county who was qualified and gave bond according to law Ordered the Nicholas J Perkins have leave to build a grist and saw mill on Chamberlains Creek he owning the land on both sides thereof Ordered that William Thompson have leave to build a grist and saw mill on Buffalo Creek he owning the land on both sides thereof.
