Governor in & over the State of Tennessee, in the penal sum of Twelve hundred & fifty dollars to void on condition that there be no legal objection why John Collins and Lydia Toner should not be united together as husband & wife in the holy state of Matrimony -- otherwise remain in full force & virtue. Given under my (crossed out) hand & seals this 8th day October 1821 his John X Collins {Seal} Attest mark (illegible-my best guess his is "T. D. Knight") Griffin X Collins {Seal} mark Additional Comments: This couple ended up in McDowell County, West Virginia by 1850, after traveling through Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, according to family legend. I do not know the relationship (if any) between John and Griffin Collins. Lydia Toner/Tonner/Tanner was said to be a "Dutchwoman."
