Tennessee State Library and Archives, Grainger County Marriage Bonds and Licenses, Loose Records
Know all men by these presents, that we John Collins and Griffin Collins are held &
firmly bound unto 
his Excellency William Carrolle Esqr. Governor in & over the State of Tennessee, in
the penal sum of 
Twelve hundred & fifty dollars to void on condition that there be no legal objection
why John Collins 
and Lydia Toner should not be united together as husband & wife in the holy state of
Matrimony  -- 
otherwise remain in full force & virtue.

Given under my (crossed out)  hand & seals this 8th day October 1821

Additional Comments:
This couple ended up in McDowell County, West Virginia by 1850, after traveling
through Kentucky, 
Indiana and Ohio, according to family legend.    I do not know the relationship (if
any) between John and 
Griffin Collins.    Lydia Toner/Tonner/Tanner was said to be a "Dutchwoman."
